Bugout Bag Firearm...What do you have?

So what are you putting in your bugout bag and why?

My thought was to get a Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle to be permanently included in the bugout bag. I figure I can carry at least 500rds and it can be used to easily take small game. Sure I can grab one of the other rifles on my way out but does anyone else permanently leave a firearm in their bugout bag?

During my work week I always keep my G43 and several extra mags in my laptop bag.

Outside of work its one of my M92's

This is exactly what I have. One of the newer ones. It comes with 2 mags, but another can be order for like 12 bucks and will fit with a mag in the receiver. Gives you 24 rounds in the rifle itself. Make sure the brand of ammo you choose will cycle. The wrap a few layer of electrical tape around the seam after you put a few desiccant packs in buttstock. I have not verified if it floats with the additional magazine. Also have an M9 with and ammo can ready to grab.

I've got a somewhat beat-up single shot 20ga and a variety of ammo, from small game loads to buckshot that would work for taking game in a wilderness survival scenario. I would like to have a bug out pistol, however. I carry an XDs 9mm every day, but I'm thinking maybe a Glock 19 for keeping in a bug out bag.

I keep my AR-7 and my .41 mag revolver in my bag. Between those two I can kill anything that moves in this state.

The Ruger 10/22 takedown version seems to be popular as a BOB gun. Folds down to fit inside a backpack, classic 10/22 usability when put together.

I carried an older AR-7 for many years in a survival bag when I was flying small aircraft for a living. it was a great form factor when stored, but mine was a jammin bitch...
Sold it recently and replaced with a 10/22 TD in stainless and a classic Ruger P-89, also stainless.

I have an all original 1922 Remington Model 24C takedown rifle in .22 Short.
Picked up 3,000 60's/70's rounds for it at a good price.
Which is good, because it jams with the new stuff.


Had a Charter Arms AR-7 in the early 80's.
Hope they make them better now.

They do. Henry made an all new magazine for them. I haven't had a failure on mine yet, and I've ran about 300 rounds of golden bullet through it so far without cleaning.

My AR-7 had an aluminum barrel with a thin steel liner.
Carried it the trunk of my 1968 Pontiac Catalina.
Flying down a road, hit black ice, pressed the car into a telephone pole.
Found the rifle in the trunk with the barrel bent about 30 degrees to one side like you see on cartoons.
Hahahaha

Still fired, but didn't have any need to shoot around corners.
