Admittedly I have reason to be biased, but does anyone else think having the state outline's width matching the URL width looks better than a small state outline with blank space left and right?

These will be stitched like the ILG&C patches.
Doc, the reason why it is not aligned is because the patch needs to be rectangular to fit the standard patch "female" that is found on vests, packs and hats.

I'll talk to Alex about maybe making the State outline a little bigger. One thing you guys are forgetting is that once this is stitched, it won't just be a large block of blank color, there will be dimension, texture and light refraction of the threads.

Oh, they need to be roughly "flag-shaped" then - I was misled by your OP describing the size as "2.5" long x 2" high" (much closer to square). Carry on.
