HB 1143 ( https://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?Bill ... tive=false )which unfortunately becomes implemented as law on 1/1/2024 requires a firearms safety course completion to purchase ANY firearm in WA state. I assume this excludes C&R but don't quote me. I just took the sporting systems course which is free/easy/quick. Just click "CARRY ON" on each page until you reach the end. Reading is not mandatory as there is no quiz at the end, but some of it is humorous. At the end they will ask for NAME/ADDRESS/PHONE/EMAIL. I assume you can fudge the info if you don't want to provide them with that since the only thing on the final certificate of completion is your name. Here's the link: https://sporting-systems.com/free-hb1143-training/I recommend doing this on your phone and just screen shotting the image so you have it on you at all times in case you need to impulse buy a pistol/rifle. Cuz, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one of us that does that

I'm starting to think I need to file for a legal name change... allow me to introdue my trans-racial Asian alter ego, Suk Mi Kok.

I used the sporting systems cert because they mention hb 1143 so I felt more comfortable that it satisfied the requirements. Honestly though, I doubt anyone will know or care about what satisfies the requirements of yet another bs feel good requirement. I’m 100% all they cared about was the mandatory 10 day wait. Anything to make life more difficult for gun owners.

Done, thank you.
I have my old in person, hands-on, several hour firearm training certificate and I was told that it wouldn't be valid for a rifle purchase.
So, learning hands on about firearm safety is trumped by a few minute long course online. The insanity. LMAO

The more burdensome restrictions on natural rights a law can be, the happier the politicians in Washington will be. It’s an election year. They’re looking for things they can list that they “did” about guns, pretending it will affect gun violence. That’s the goal. It’s bulletin board material, and verbal fodder. Creating hassles is just a bonus they can laugh about at cocktail parties. (Edited to add: I’m speaking in the short term. You’re right that it’s a slow drip to discourage exercising our rights, especially for newbies).
