Does anyone know of ANYPLACE on this side of the mountains where someone can shoot 1000 yards? I'd be happy with 600, if I could get it, but I'd love 1000. Help a brother out, fellas (and ladies)!

Clarification on above post.
There are 3 ranges that can be used to shoot out to 600 yards... there are a few more but I'll let those that know about those chime in.
2 are members only and 1 is public. Now with that said 2 of the ranges only do the 600 on certain days (or only a few times per month).
Cascade (Ravensdale) and Paul Bunyon (Puyallup) are members only. Tacoma Sportsmen's Club is public.
Cascade has a range that is 600 but one does have to be a member and qualify to shoot on this specific range for the 600.
For this side finding a legal 1,000 yards is a tough one. Not impossible but most won't share if they have one.
The only true 1,000 yard range is in Tri-Cities and Chelan (only during winter months) and some secret spots out East.

Ft Lewis (now JBLM)... is basically off limits to civilians. The range is 300 meters. If you have a military friend willing to sign you in... that's the first part. The next is if you want to shoot something (your firearm)... you'll need to register that firearm with the Provost Marshall on Post before you can bring it onto "base." So, lots of hoops to jump through for "Ft Lewis" Not worth it for the average civilian. Years ago there used to a 1,000 range but that is no longer available (military or civilian).

Talk to deadshot. I guess he shoots at some range that has some nice bright yellow targets at about the 200 yard mark...

Thanks, folks.
I was a member of Cascade for quite some time--until I moved to Grays Harbor County. Now, a one way drive of 99 miles is just too much--along with the $180.00 per year fee, AND the year long wait to even be a member.
I have a membership at Pe Ell Sportsman's club. They have a line almost at 600--but you can't shoot .50 there, which was one of the things I wanted to do. Still, it will do for other centerfire calibers.
Where are the 1000 yard ranges on the other side of the mountains?

Where are the 1000 yard ranges on the other side of the mountains? Scout around.......now that Weyerhaeuser and Green Diamond are permit only access it limits the search a bit, but there are still spots available. I would post, but....no offense to you but posting shooting spots usually makes them a litter trash fest in short order. I promise if you look around Grays Harbor County you will find spots of your desire.

Just for everyone's info, the JBLM MWR range is outside the gates, civilians can get to it and are welcomed. You will just have to approach post from the south via East Gate road. Also, I have been shooting there for years (when I am too lazy to drive to the lovely TRRC) and they have never even mentioned "registering" guns on post its just a formality they have to put it on their brochures as is required for soldiers with personal weapons on post.
That being said, its only out to 300m, and is usually clogged with countertop commando's and guys who don't know how to shoot teaching their wives how to shoot terribly as well. But the old guys who run the range are pretty cool and occasionally you might meet someone who isn't trying to convince you he is an operator while pelting you will steel casings ejecting 438' out of his SCAR he bought at the PX.
As for the long range - Yeah it really is tough finding places to shoot 600+ without membership.

http://chelangunclub.com/It's called the North Cascades Sportsman's Club. Member only. Locked gate (unless they are having a public function). During winter months they open up the range to 1,000 yards. During summer months only down to 200-300 or even 100 during high fire warnings. We had a 1,000 yard Mosin Shoot there last year. Just couldn't swing it this year. $40 membership isn't bad at all. viewtopic.php?f=43&t=19940&hilit=mosin&start=60Pictures on Page 6
