City of Fife, no guns in parks?

I know it does not hold force of law, anyone live in fife and want to challenge this?

http://www.codepublishing.com/wa/fife/

I actually can't find 1536-04 in the Municipal code. Only thing I can find is section 12 which says DISCHARGING firearms is prohibited in parks, not possession.

Get a hold of the Fife City Council and/or Mayor. Let them know that their signs are in violation of State Preemption and that the City of Seattle lost a lot of taxpayer $$ because of signs similar to these.

Tell them you expect the signs to be removed/replaced within 30 days or you will contact the Second Amendment Foundation.

There are quite a few of these signs across WA with a piece riveted on that clarifies "discharging of firearms" vs. "firearms." Looks like Fife isn't with the program yet.

Most Seattle parks have stickers over the word "firearm" - although some of them were either never covered up or have fallen off. I ignore those signs just like every other anti-gun sign in Seattle that doesn't carry the weight of law.

Looks like the Juice isn't worth the squeeze. Municipal code seems to have correct wording, the sign makes anti gun momma's feel warm and fuzzy.

I think the use of comic sans on a public sign is just as awful. But yes that sign is clearly in violation of state preemption laws.

Actually, the sign is in violation of nothing other than the laws of common sense. The problem will only come for the city when they try to enforce the prohibition.

The city probably put it up when they passed the ordinance before the whole issue of preemption was resolved by the Court(s).

People should just carry a small amount of the 'Aluminum Foil" tape used by furnace people. When you find this prohibition of firearms in parks or other public places just help out the city or county. Cover it with the tape. This way no more taxpayer money needs to be spent to replace the signs.

There are lots of signs like this that are mis-posted. Marysville PD has one on the front door of their "Lobby". Clearly has no weight of law so I just "carry on" when I have business there. In a way I kind of hope I'm challenged and detained. I could use some extra "shooting money" :045:

Who will do absolutely NOTHING unless the party was detained or arrested. The sign has no weight of law behind it anymore. It's about as valid as a sign prohibiting dandelions or toadstools from the lawns in the park.
