------------------------ yes you still have to be 21 but you don't have to fill out a pta form and send it to the state. DUH!! I was commenting on the registry post, try and keep up.

the WA PTA is only to be used for a complete firearms This cant be right.... Quote: All firearms other than shotguns and rifles, and all ammunition other than ammunition for shotguns or rifles may be sold only to individuals 21 years of age or older. [/quote] I'm thinking the Bold letters second quote means serialized frames are included in this because the frame can be built as a pistol....... but I'm no FFL. Its the feds covering their ass or heading the purchaser off at the pass. We didnt do a PTA at Dreadi's

no the Washington pistol transfer form is to only be used for complete firearms (pistol/revolvers) which go to into the dol registry.
a frame is not to be put on the form.
if you transferred a long gun you never have to do a pta form

Jim, don't intermingle federal and state laws. But if you want to add them together, here's what you get for WA, assuming the buyer and seller are both WA residents:
Receivers: Must be 21 to buy from an FFL, do not need background check for private party sale, do not go to the WA "registry" Handguns: Must be 21 to buy from an FFL, need background check for private party sale unless you meet an exception, go to the WA "registry" Rifles and shotguns: Handguns: Must be 18 to buy from an FFL, need background check for private party sale unless you meet an exception, do not go to the WA "registry"
A father gifting a handgun, rifle or shotgun to his son would meet one of the exceptions in the law, so no FFL transfer would be required for any of the above types.

Ops, you work at a gun shop. Correct? Why do you come online and tell people how to "bypass" a law? There is no "bypass" in Jim's situation or anyone else's. The topic is about legality of transferring a stripped lower to his son, who is under 21. You cannot "bypass" any state or federal laws for transferring a firearm that is neither a rifle or shotgun to a unlicensed person that is under 21.

NO REGISTRATION IN WA! NO PTA FOR FRAME, BUT MUST BE 21! SINCE IT CAN BE MADE INTO A PISTOL! Lacey Cabelas has plenty of mags AR/AK. Also you can order them online.

I guess its a Guy thing...hes 18 and wants the rifle registered to him. I had to buy the lower and build it before he can own it. Rite of Passage into Manhood???? *Shrug* There's no long gun registry in WA, and supposedly the feds don't keep one, so I guess he's out of luck.

Shit has just strobed me out. Life is short. Appreciate what you have and who you love.

$188.63 registration for a fucking motorcycle in this damned state. Didn't quite realize how bad it'd be a year ago when I bought it. $120 of that is for that fucking RTA bullshit. I ride to lower congestion an save fuel, to only get reamed...
