The reason for limiting lower sales.

Someone just asked me why we have a limit of three lowers. The main reason is that some knuckleheads have ruined things for everyone.
Common knowledge that we all worked at another store.
At that place we had people buying a lot of lowers at once. Then we'd see them selling them, or complete rifles/pistols at the next gun show. Some of them had visits from the BATFE about their manufacturing and selling firearms without any type of license. There the limit was created in response to avoid having the ATF's attention.

When we started here, Tom decided to be pre-emptive and put the limit in place from the beginning.

I thank you for the limits on the lowers, especially when you have great deals like you did! It allows more people to benefit from it. As a business, you are going to sell all of them anyway, but it's nice to be able to draw 20+ people into the store making NEW customers than just one guy with a wad of cash.

Now I know where not to shop. The last time I bought lowers, I ordered four. And the dealer was more than happy to transfer 4. At once.

Just gives us more of the better deals without jerks like you crying about store policies.

*shrug* If I order four lowers, I expect four lowers to be transferred at once. Not have to run interference through the lower police because they can't handle a handful of known people who game the system.

If you ORDER 4 lowers, then you are ordering them, for YOU. That's a lot different than limiting current inventory to benefit multiple customers.

Wasn't very clear in the original post. Limiting sales is a broad term and encompasses all purchases.

So Chester, just to be clear on the store policy . . . are you saying that you will only transfer up to three lowers for a mail-order purchase? Or you will only sell up to three lowers out of store inventory?

Or both?

Man, you guys are something else sometimes.

I'm a simple man... so keep it simple. Ever heard of the KISS principal?

If you buy multiples (especially in one order). The FFL is forced to report you to the ATF. When ATF looks at your purchases... they may ask questions...

When the ATF asks questions... they are like a bull in a china shop...
Questions to the buyer and seller. "No one" really wants to activate the "Huge Machine" of the ATF... not a smart simple man...

From the buyers perspective... if you can help not calling attention to yourself... the "Shop" is helping you... believe it or not. :facepalm2:

From the sellers perspective... no one needs to have their paperwork looked over with a fine tooth comb... nobody. So if you can help yourself at the get go... by not activating a foreseeable problem... you would be smart to not be involved in one to start with. :thumbsup2:

To those that buy in large quantities to sell... you should be very aware things are computerized and these processes will be highly scrutinized. If any of those sales comes back to you from a crime... you will be putting yourself and your family at risk.

So bottomline: it's not worth it. Get your FFL and do it properly. It's an easy process if you are serious about it.

I know someone will ask...
*what I mean by your family... are you the sole provider? What happens if you go to jail? Are fined $250,000 ++++ etc, etc, etc

You can transfer as many as you'd like if you buy them someplace and have them transferred through us.
If you buy them from us, from our inventory, we will only sell three at a time.
We like to deal with the ATF as little as possible and don't want to have to do too many traces on sales that end up all going to the same person because we sold them a half dozen lowers a few times.

It's not just a few known bad apples... those are easy enough to spot and will be shut down. Of course they have to be identified and in the meantime attention can be drawn and really, who wants attention?
