Lazy day, but gotta feed the kids. Did not even want to go to the grocery store.

Ground beef, Boar's Head American Cheese (not enough), white bread.

Line sheet tray with parchment paper, then aluminum foil, spread ground beef evenly from edge to edge, slide cooling rack between aluminum foil and parchment paper, use old meat thermometer to poke a bunch of holes through beef and aluminum foil so water and fat can drain through and place in 450 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes. Finish under broiler to give some color.

Cut squares with bench scraper, make patty melts and make second batch because everyone inhaled theirs.

Next on to fries, why bake for 20-25 minutes? Broil for 5 minutes and end up with best frozen fries not cooked in oil.

No pics of the fries, sorry.

Looks like I've got a part time side job coming up.
The women at the wife's work want to buy the Humbows.

I needed to free up some space in the freezer.... so it was time to pull the chicken parts out and make a big batch of broth!!! Looking forward to having some easily available in the fridge again.

I pulled the two bags out of the freezer - happy that it created a good size hole - and dumped them into the pot... quite a bit there -two (smoked) chicken carcasses, a turkey neck, 5-6 chicken necks, some bones and wings.... and two chicken backbones --- I had totally forgotten that they went in there - I assumed it was just the turkey neck. Man..... this is going to be killer batch of broth!

Did the same with 2 turkey backs and necks.

Came out great.

I did something I've never done in the past. Pulled my bones and veggies out and start a second broth with them. I haven't tasted that yet.

I had enough to do that, but no need to have that much broth..... I simmered mine too hot and too long (ran out for some errands) and everything pretty much disintegrated..... a good 2.5 hours at a hard simmer :wink05:

What I did on the last batch, and I'm going to do again, is to put the pot in the fridge and cool it so that I can skim the fat off --- then I'll reheat the broth to a simmer and transfer to jelly and pasta jars with metal lids while hot - put the lid on after its cooled a bit and wait to hear the 'ping' of the lid being sucked in! Home canned broth.... I feel better about storing it for a while in the fridge until I need it :thumbsup2:

By the way --- the whole house smells like smoked chicken broth - I finally took the garbage out since its garbage night.

Well, it wasn't me, it was the wife. 26lbs of Chicken titties for homemade dog food. 98cents a lb for the Chicken at WinCo. Lots of veggies, Brown rice and other stuff.
The dog's eat better than I do.
Oh, and I will eat their food, shit is good with a little hot sauce.

That $.99 per pound turkey got split up today.

Tonight I cooked a breast and 2 thighs in the instant pot. Added a chicken bullion cube to the water when I IP'd the turkey and made gravy out of the liquid.

Veggie medley because it's easy and my 8 year old son loves it.
