I lol'd.

The Dread Princess and Balrog made this from fresh picked apples yesterday. Now it is safely ensconced in the man cave refrigerator.

I didn't cook it today I cooked it Sunday and it was delicious.

1/2 lb of Chantrelle mushrooms from the farmers market $10, linguini $1.25, butter $.25, garlic from the farmers market. $.50, Alfredo sauce $2.00 making 6 $30+ dollar plates of wild mushroom linguini for less than $20 for my wife and kids and enjoying a quiet Sunday night with my family. Priceless

I'd be more satisfied had we foragef the chanterelles ourselves but between work and not knowing where to go I don't get them much.

That's some great-looking pasta.

I'm debating swapping out for a bigger smoker, before Thanksgiving.

I have high hopes.

Meh....they were pretty good, but not spectacular. The wife bought very Lean burger though, i think more Fat and they would have been Juicier.

I totally missed that these were burgers...

Grinding your own good quality meat makes the best burger...don't over-compress.

If you grind your own, you can get a good char on the outside, and leave the inside medium rare.

I don't trust medium- rare on mass-produced ground beef.

Even the organic ground beef at Costco comes from multiple countries....

Sounds great.

I have a stainless steel grinder that attaches to our kitchenaid....you can put them in the freezer prior to use, so the grinding doesn't heat the meat too much, makes a difference.

You can also grind sausage & other things.

Grinding your own, fresh meat, and searing in a cast iron pan, makes a helluva burger, better than most you can buy.

The other cool thing is, you can add rib meat, or brisket, or prime, or whatever you prefer.

Then you get into caul fat, but that's a different story altogether...

We have one of those for the Kitchenaid but we have never used it. I have wasted a whole lot of good drop.

Hmmm.....now where is it?

Was cleaning out the Freezer and came up with a pretty simple and delicious meal.

Found a bag of frozen veggies (potatos, carrots, onions) and another bag of frozen, sliced, mushrooms. Was headed to the garbage can as they looked a little frost bitten. Instead tossed the bag contents in a pot, added some cubed meat I browned a cast iron skillet, then dumped a can of beef broth over it. Added some garlic and a "salt substitute" seasoning (Dr's orders to reduce salt).

Simmered all afternoon and it produced a really nice tasty stew.

Hard to cook for just one but this "pot" made enough for two meals. Finished it off this evening.
