Its that time again! Mushroom season is in full swing.

Last month and this month I have been killing it picking Chanterelles and Lobsters. Ive got a pan full cooking right now. Tomorrow morning will be chanterelle, ham n cheese omelette and fried lobster chips. Mmmm!

Anyone else here forage?

We don't currently forage, but we are definitely mycophiles  :thumbsup2:

We get mushrooms from Adam's Mushrooms at the Tacoma Farmer's Market.

There was a great write-up of all he went through to create his growing operation, pretty impressive.

I'm not a fan myself (they all taste like fried butter and dirt to me), but my wife (Japanese) is a big fan. I like the hunt, and she eats them. We have a chanterelle rich forest near our home, but she is desperate to find the Japanese mushrooms. (Matsutake?) Found a few morells (sp?) In our own yard last year, so we are hoping they come back again this year.

Matsutake info & link to Puget Sound Mycological Society:

Oregon Mushrooms has them at $45/lb....and Uwajimaya often has them as well:

Matsutake mushrooms are really good. Fried with some butter or in spaghetti. I think thye are also called pine mushrooms.

Ive never picked CF, just around Mt Rainier and its foothills. Odd thing, I haven't seen any oysters yet this year.
