We don't currently forage, but we are definitely mycophiles We get mushrooms from Adam's Mushrooms at the Tacoma Farmer's Market. There was a great write-up of all he went through to create his growing operation, pretty impressive.

I'm not a fan myself (they all taste like fried butter and dirt to me), but my wife (Japanese) is a big fan. I like the hunt, and she eats them. We have a chanterelle rich forest near our home, but she is desperate to find the Japanese mushrooms. (Matsutake?) Found a few morells (sp?) In our own yard last year, so we are hoping they come back again this year.

Ive never picked CF, just around Mt Rainier and its foothills. Odd thing, I haven't seen any oysters yet this year.
