Really? 33% of the people surveyed are intimidated by a SPATULA? Whisks? Measuring cups?
------------------- "There are definitely some gaps in respondents’ knowledge when it comes to cooking, too. A third (33 percent) admitted to feeling intimidated when using a spatula. And 30 percent got anxious about whisks and measuring cups while a quarter got tense when attempting to use a food processor.
Maybe because when they looked up from their phone, saw the word "Instant" on the box, and thought all you needed to do was say "Tea, Earl Grey, hot" and stuff would magically appear. Then they opened the box and saw that there were both instructions and a recipe book and promptly freaked the hell out.

My guess would be they were a bunch of millennials or gen Y'ers who 1) never had a mother that cooked 2) never took a 'HomeEc' class 3) if the mom DID cook, they were too busy with their electronics/social media/everything else to pay attention to, or even care what she was doing
I remember taking HomeEc in 6&7th grade - my 'home room' in middle school was actually in the really nicely equipped (for then, and even now) kitchen class room. Being the youngest of five, I spent most of my early childhood with mom while she was cooking three squares a day for a family of seven from scratch --- impressive for back then -- I doubt that happens much anymore. I'm sure there are a lot of people that consider making a box of mac and cheese or heating up a Marie Callenders meal 'cooking'... Cooking is becoming a lost art... people 'claim' to be 'just too busy' to cook their own food --- while they sit on facebook, watch tv or just sit there stoned.... I see it alot unfortunately.
I've been rediscovering just how good and cheaper it is to make your own food -- the way YOU want it to be -- can be. I wish I would have taken a sewing class back in the day --- THAT would have been a useful skill to have had over the years....

Of the ten voices I hear in my head, only three keep telling me NOT to shoot.... Do I go with the majority or common sense?
