Rita & I are going a bit stir crazy, so we decided to try to make some cabbage rolls with some beef & pork we had on hand. I made an Imgur album of the process here: https://imgur.com/gallery/aC2fq7OIf you're FB friends with us, you can see Rita's post on them here: https://www.facebook.com/rita.ho/posts/ ... with_storyHere's the result before we put the tomato-basil soup on top and before going into the oven:

Gramma used to make those. (Lebanese). I still do from time to time, I love 'em. I'll have to give your recipe a shot

A lot of what went in was because we had it in the fridge. Strarting with an extra cabbage which is what started the whole thing.
Would love to try Lebanese rolls.

We have a cabbage in the fridge that needs to be usedn I'm happy you posted this. Love cabbage rolls., I have to pick up some rice if there is any to be had at the stores. I bought a can of tomato soup with rice for the grand kids that will never be used. Here would be a good place to get it gone. Thank you for posting this.

Try it with lamb.
#1 coarse ground lamb (shoulder or buy the prepackaged stuff if not feeling energetic) 1 cup long grain rice Generous tablespoon of clarified butter S&P 1 tsp cinnamin 3/4 tspn cumin
Squeeze some fresh lemon jce over it when done.
You can be lazy and make it like lasagna with layers in a rectangular glass pan but the rolls are better IMO

We've been able to find rice pretty easily (we always have lots on hand anyway), but beans are surprisingly hard to find. Rita's not a big fan of beans, but they're a great source of protein and when mixed with rice, makes a "perfect" food you can survive on for a very-very long time, especially if you've got vitamins to supplement with. I've probably only got about 4-6 lbs of beans, but probably closer to 40 lbs or more of rice (you can tell one of us is Asian).

Beans and rice are on my no-no list of too many carbs.
