We don't usually do frozen pizza. On the occasions pizza sounds good it's not that difficult to whip up some dough and use fresh ingredients. However, due to the ice & snow, plus a partner who is immobile for 4 days due to knee surgery, we thought frozen pizzas would be a good thing because it's so easy even I could make it. In the interest of science, we had three different brands in the freezer. Safeway Signature Select Digiorno Motor City (from Costco) I can tell you that the Motor City is hands down the best frozen pizza either of us have ever come across, and is better than many chain pizzas fresh out of the oven. Plenty of meat and cheese and a really good tasting crust. Can get 9 reasonable slices out of the 10"x10" size, way more than enough for two people. And cooks like a dream. The crust was done in the center without overcooked edges and the cheese and meat was just at the stage where it was almost crispy. Unlike the other brands. $15.49 ONLINE PRICE - $11.49 in stores for two pizzas. Not inexpensive, but still cheaper than Papa Murphy's or any restaurant pizza. Worth the extra compared to Safeway etc. Big thumbs up. https://www.costco.com/authentic-motor-city-pizza-co-detroit-style-deep-dish-pizza%2c-double-pepperoni%2c-2-count.product.100655569.html

Will give that brand a try. We have 2 small kids and busy work schedules. Unfortunately a frozen pizza is on the menu every couple weeks or so. I am a die hard fan of Schwans frozen pizza. My personal opinion they are the best when it comes to frozen pizzas. May give them a try. Convenience and price are tough to beat too.

How does the motor city compare to the kirkland brand ones? I personally haven't found a frozen pizza I legitimately like, but the kirkland ones are at least palatable.

I can't say in particular, it's been a long time since I had a Kirkland one. Mostly in the way it cooks, I think. I think you'll be happy.

I remember in the 1970s, frozen pizza was really bad. I remember a friend and I went to the supermarket and he got an Oh boy pizza, and it was cardboard, tasted really bad. Then in the late 1980s, Totino's frozen pizza came out and it was pretty good. Changed the dough (precooked) and had some decent cheese and pepperoni. Not there are lots of choices that taste ok.

I will try this, assumed it was dogshitontoast. Never ever had a good frozen pie.
Side note: Oddly I never liked Zeke's when we were in the Crackattle/Redass/Duball/Lynnweed areas - but move up to Hippieham and DAMN the Zeke's here is KILLER. Not sure why but everything about their pizza is TOP NOTCH.

I have to say --- with Safeway having their pizzas for $2.50 right now - you can't go wrong for the price! I had a thick crust supreme on wednesday that netted me two meals that were damn tasty. Last night I grabbed a thin crust chicken bacon ranch that was just exquisite..... surprised that I didn't polish the whole thing off --- getting ready to have the last two pieces right now.... Not bad at all for a fraction of the other zas. Attachment: 20211231_192046.jpg Pro tip - rotate the pizza every 2 -3 minutes and let it run ~5 minutes longer. I'm planning on grabbing at least one more or two if I can..... Sadly, I can't store pizzas in the SxS fridge.

+1 on the Motor City.
Detroit style is not deep dish, per se, but deeper than a regular pizza.
Good taste, and as Isildur noted, cooks well, great texture, crispy edges, etc.
We’ve haven’t had them in awhile since we’ve been trying to eat clean, and we make homemade when in the mood.
They’ve gone up (like everything), used to be $11.99, sometimes $9.99 when they did the coupon…

I have to say - I didn't realize until after I posted that the MC pizza is more of a pan style.... and square... and 3#. Damn - its hard to find a GOOD pan style pizza anymore that you feel good about eating. Godfather's Pizza is long gone.... past that its an old school pizzeria that goes by word of mouth.
I finished off the last two pieces of the BCR pizza and was looking for more to eat.... Yep - in the truck and back down to SW for a thin crust spicy sausage pizza --- grabbed a green pepper and used up the rest of an onion in the fridge ---- no complaints here.
