Picked this rascal yesterday. Very sweet and tasty worth it for the seeds but we have been spoiled by store seedless even if inferior flavor.

Man, that looks great.

I planted some also, but between the crows, rabbits and other birds helping themselves, I didn't get any this year.

Picked some shit for fresh salsa tonight.

Go Dawgs.

Nice. We've had Carmen peppers for a month plus now, Sunchola (sp?) large dark cherry tomatoes for a few weeks. Our large Italian heirlooms are turning red, but some are actually getting sunburned! Never saw that before.

Been eat zuch for a couple months, taters in storage, greens (lots of varieties) I blanched and froze (worked great). Cukes. Asperbroc (highly recommended) Lots of other stuff finished.

Our only real failure? Onions from seed! Granex. First mistake was not getting long day variety. Short day onions just don't grow right here. But not enough nitrogen (onions are pretty heavy feeders). Just a waste of garden space. Next year grow sets.

Watermelon, got lucky with the heat. We started our seeds too early and boy did they struggle. Soil and everything was right and BAM the race was on. Also we are holding on these:

Plants and melons gone nuts. Loaded!! A couple are almost there. The race is ON.

Peppers are finally getting close! Most are still not ripe, but I've been able to try the first couple, a purple ghost and a brain strain. Looking like it will have been worth the wait!
Sorry about the huge pics, couldn't downsize after uploading to imgur, or I might just be a dunce.....

Carolina Reaper - slowest to ripen, hope they make it before we chill off around here!

I'm lucky that I seem to have an iron gut, but did recently have my first, strange, experience of peeing capsaicin......

Ok now we have a larger garden pest.

WHAT the hell is digging surface holes at the base of my young fruit and even a planted oak and Austrian pine trees? I mean really digging! Dirt and mulch flung about.

Holes are 18" LONG x 12" wide and about 10-12" deep? Not some small animal. I see chickens roam by. I see coyotes. I've seen opossum and raccoons. None digging. WTAF????

What animal in this region digs like this?
