My glass was not nearly as cool as yours Steve.
I nursed my little shot glass for about 30 minutes... wondering what is wrong with my tastebuds.
Why do I taste burning alcoholiness when others taste mellow spirits? Why is my calibration towards turpentine?

So I sipped half of a small shot glass. Two of the sips hit some reflex thingy in my brain and made me kind of choke and gasp.

After the 30 minutes to get through half the shot glass, I placed the remaining half in the fridge. I let it get quite chilly, then pulled it out expecting it to be mellowed somewhat. Not so.

I will try your ice cubes next time edogg! Thank you!

Alcoholiness. :thumbsup2:

Whiskey is an acquired taste. I don't appreciate it personally, though it may grow on you.

(Tell me why we have to suffer through something we don't like...)

Try a good Tequila for sipping, i suspect that might be more to your taste. (Sorry Breck) :wink05:

I'd agree. Whiskey and Scotch are definitely acquired tastes. One of my ski instructor colleagues introduced me to Chivas Regal many moons ago and that started my love of scotch. My skiing mentor in Washington State is from Scotland and further introduced me to the world of single malts.

usrifle may be on to something here. Fine tequilas are really great for sipping drinks. I'm partial to Anejo and Extra Anejo for the smoky flavor.

High end rum can also be really good. Just stick with the high end specialty varieties and avoid those in big plastic bottles

For rum: Ron Zacapa is a strong recommend. I always keep a bottle of this on hand, especially during the summer. El Dorado is good too.

I learned that you must not inhale while sipping. If you exhale, skip, roll the fine scotch (or Jonny Walker in your case) around your mouth, swallow, then breath. Also, try a short wide glass similar to what Madpick has pictured. That should help the fire of the alcohol dissipate.

I've had that and wasn't a fan. It was tasty, but I don't think I'm buying another bottle. For about the same price point I prefer Ron Matusalem 15. But hey I also like Pyrat rum which is made by the same company as Patron so to each their own.

I don't drink often, but I'm not Mooslim or otherwise constrained from enjoying liquor on (rare) occasion.
When I do imbibe I'm partial to Scotch (now... thanks Sinus... ) wine, Osake, and Soju.

There is a Korean/American State representative in Shoreline named Cindy Ryu who has introduced a bill to allow Beer and Wine Liquor license holders to serve Soju on their premises.

"Enlarging the liquor cabinet: Soju, a distilled alcoholic beverage which originated in Korea, isn’t a product Washington wants sold in eateries whose owners only have a beer and wine license. House Bill 1034 directs the state Liquor and Cannabis Board to make it possible for them to start serving soju by the bottle for consumption on-premises. Rep. Cindy Ryu, D-Shoreline, a Korean native, is the prime sponsor."

Soju is delicious and a shot of it will make the hair on your arms stand up straight. wow.

I came back in to the warm part of the shop to find this nice surprise waiting for me, compliments of the Balrog and Dread Princess. That is a blackberry milkshake.

That looks really good, Mike!

Why did they bring you a cable and tools? Is this some kind of kinky thing that you should have cropped out of the pic?

That was the Balrog's idea to put the shake in the middle of the cable.
I am making a grounding cable for a welding machine, you filthy man.
