Two different barrel proof offerings from Heaven Hill. They’re both outstanding!

That is a Bruichladdich whisky, so not a new distillery, just using the old Port Charlotte warehouse and name.

Quote:
Port Charlotte Distillery was a purpose-built distillery, founded in 1829, which was still in operation until 1929.
It was formerly called the Lochindaal distillery.
The distillery was located in the center of Port Charlotte village, on the island of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland.
After various owners, the distillery was finally closed in 1929. However, the buildings have remained intact.

The brand was partially revived during 2009–14, although the distillery as such remained closed.
Whisky distilled at nearby Bruichladdich is matured in oak casks at Port Charlotte.
Whiskies currently bottled there include:
Port Charlotte Scottish Barley
PC 11 Heavily peated

I know, but there is a new head distiller. Jim McEwan ran Bruichladdich until just recently, I think 2018. He "retired" and helped open another distillery.

It was still tasty.

Mr. McEwan left Bruichladdich in July 2015. In the summer of 2016, he was approached by the Laing family to help plan their new distillery, Ardnahoe. In September 2016 build permits were secured, and distilling began, producing spirit in October 2018, and filled its first cask in November. The distillery fully opened to the public in April 2019.
Ardnahoe is set up to produce a fruity, creamy and heavily peated spirit, which will mature in a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.
The spirit was created in partnership with Mr. McEwan, who has since transitioned into an ambassadorial role with Ardnahoe.

Adam Hannett is the current head distiller at Bruichladdich, and is in part responsible for the second re-launch of Port Charlotte, creating two more whiskies in addition to the two previously distilled.

Top shelf tequila anyone? I'd say the 1942 is worth every penny especially when bought in Mexico.

Fascinating. Taste? Both tonic and gin - flavor on each??

I’m working on the proper ratios. Ended up just using some tonic water eventually. But this gin is outstanding. I asked a buddy who drinks gin what the best is. I may have 100+ bottles of bourbon, but only want to buy one really good bottle of gin. This was his suggestion and he was not wrong.

Dickel 12 year. I dont get down on whiskey or bourbon often, but its stronger flavored, slightly spicy and just the right sweetness. The new lady friend thought I'd like it after having a few different old fashioned's kn a date the other day
