Holy shit, that Rhetoric Orphan Barrel is good. Super mature and complex. Bourbon this old is, in my understanding, often harsh and tannic. But not this. Yum!

Looks like the last one....

Yep, I had seen it at Costco and been intrigued. Looked it up online and finally decided to pull the trigger and get some since it won’t be around much longer. Now I have to resist the urge to drink it all time. Must save it for special occasions. It’s wonderful.

It was margarita night!

Made with tequila, triple sec, fresh squeezed limes, fresh squeezed orange juice and an amaretto float.

I had to use up the oranges!!

While nothing spectacular, I had a Sapporo last night with diner. I wanted a Kirin.

Yeah, Sapporo is not my favorite Japanese beer but it’s pretty good. However, we did have an outstanding crab dinner at the Sapporo beer factory during the snow festival in 2006. That was a very cool experience. If you ever have the chance to go, that festival is amazing!

I have a good red laid in (will choose) as soon as I finish outside. Hot Italian chow and a good red. STAT.

$15 bottle, as good as some $50 bottles:

Dalwhinnie 15yr Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Exquisite. One of my favorite all-time go-tos.

Appearance: Golden honey
Nose: Green apple and heather blossoms
Palate: Green Jolly Rancher dipped in honey
Finish: Brief, but intense. Warm, but gentle.

4.25 stars

Last night I had a glass of my Balvenie 21 year port finish. My favorite scotch. And I’m almost out of it...maybe enough for a couple more glasses.

Any recommendation that’s along those lines but not $200+ for a bottle?

And tonight I polished off the last of my Lagavulin 16 year. I don’t usually care for peaty scotches but this one is pretty good with a few ice cubes to mellow it out. While it’s pretty good, I probably won’t be replacing it. Islay scotches aren’t my bag.

Mmmm, that looks awesome! I’m tempted to make one of those, but I don’t have the right glass and only have spray whipped cream. Which I’m pretty sure is blasphemous so I’ll probably just drink the whiskey.

The spray stuff will work in a pinch, and the glass is just a middle man. I say go for it.
