Client gave me some as a gift, they raise chickens and ducks (apparently).
Whats the best way to prepare them?
These are some big eggs! Bigger than a jumbo chicken egg.

Told the kids to hit them with a bright flashlight and look for bones.
If I cracked open a fetus, I probably wouldn't be eating eggs for quite some time.

From what I've read, duck eggs are better than chicken eggs for baking. They make pastries enjoyably fluffier.

I have heard this also.
But. Just scrambled one up tonight and let everyone in the family have a taste.

I vote for "deviled duck eggs".

I was told if you put them in a bowl of cold water the floaters go in the trash or drain. Sinkers are good to eat.

If he gave them to you for eating they will be fine. If you haven't had real chicken eggs instead of store bought you might not know. But real duck eggs are better than the real chicken eggs. Use them for anything you use your bland store bought eggs for and enjoy good eggs for a change!

As far as the fetus thing, first a mallard would have to be present. Then a duck would have to be broody and sit on the eggs to start them developing. And a little dot of red does not mean it's fertilized, it's just a blood spot. Completely normal. The factories just put them into food so you rarely find them in the raw factory eggs.

I like my duck eggs over-medium to mix with hash browns. They are delicious

Agreed.

Fresh eggs make a huge difference.

He said the duck eggs were really rich, and he mixed them with chicken eggs.
He also gave me a carton of brown chicken eggs from his coop.
Said they taste so much better than store bought eggs.

Thanks everyone, guess it's eggs for breakfast.

Fresh eggs are going to have more flavor. Some people like it, others don't. Duck eggs are richer than chicken eggs. It's a bigger egg, so make sure your cook times are good so you don't get rubbery whites. I'd do them on medium heat, sunny side down. Bet it would make some kick ass eggs benedict and hollandaise sauce.

Son made himself a two duck egg omelette this morning.
The yolks were very viscous, shells hard.
Said it tasted different and he liked it.

One egg had a piece of grass stuck to it.
Do ducks walk around and drop eggs on the lawn?
Guy has 8-10 acres, would hate to walk around looking for Easter eggs. Hahahaha

I used to just hard boil them and turkey eggs. My sister used to get them for me from the egg man when I lived in Puyallup.

Make a waffle, top it with a confit duck leg, and a fried or poached duck egg. Serve with mustard and maple syrup.

Poached also works well for a salad.
