I have the 17" (plenty big for my use) Blackstone (comes in 22", 28", 36"). I just got the stand, and new grill lid. They are so much better than an actual open grate grill. Once seasoned like an iron skillet it is better than teflon. I can cook a steak (after it comes out of the SV), steam some veggies, or flip an omelet smoother than any teflon or ceramic gimmick skillet. Plus I got the hose that allows me to use my 20# propane cylinder instead of those 1# expensive cylinders. BTW I also have an adapter that allows me to refill the 1# cylinders.

You can use metal utensils, and be as aggressive as you want, and not hurt it.
The new stand, and lid just took it to a new level for me. It will make it even better for using inside the house. The smaller 17" doesn't put out anymore CO than a regular gas range/oven.

I saw the title and saw it was you Chuck. I thought you just misspelled "girdles". Never mind. Carry on.

Once I lose a few more pounds I can get rid of the girdle.

A 36” Blackstone is on my short list. I missed out of the Prime Day deal they were having.

I heard that the Blackstone is an awesome griddle, I have a medium big green egg and love it. A griddle is next on my list.

We have a large cast iron section we can swap out on our stove for some griddle action. It's wonderful. A big flat cooking surface is nice for a lot of things. Especially breakfast foods.

If you plan on taking it mobile go with the 17, or 22".
The stand is a $100, and the hood is $40. For once Amazon is almost double. icon_eek

I think I got mine on sale at Cabela's for under $100. Plus I've seen them on Groupon.
The 36" is $250 on Amazon.

Propane griddle, indoors? That's messed up.

I have a master plan to have griddle in my outdoor arsenal. You guys might be invited.

Like I said, it is no worse than a gas stove top for the smallest one.

Have a 36 camp chef that is pretty legit. Purchased a 36 Blackstone for my dad. I like the Blackstone better. So I grabbed a 22 for camping and what not. Just got back from a week long trip to the beach with it, worked like a dream. I want to get a grate to fit my 22 so I can use my 36 as a griddle and the 22 with a grate as a standard open flame stove top. I've been trying to get Grill Grates to make one. No dice so far.

I have found that a lodge 15 inch carbon steel skillet makes a pretty decent griddle on my Weber 22 inch.

Also, Blackstone has come out with a new design on their larger griddles. The new ones incorporate the rear grease trap instead of the side catch. They are releasing a 50 inch, 6 burner, griddle as well. I am disappointed they have discontinued their pizza oven. Supposedly they will be a v2 at some point.

Best thing ever for any propane grill that normally uses the one pound cylinders:

$10 on Amazon.

People throw those away daily.
Go to HF and get the adapter and refill your own.

I am guilt of throwing away the little green propane cylinders. I do go through a ton too. One of the guys we camp with has the adapter, so I refill some, but rarely. No real excuse why I haven't bought an adapter yet.
As for the griddle. I use my Camp Chef constantly. I have a 2 burner and 2 cast iron griddle plates for either side. We use this all the time. Almost never cook inside my trailer. Haven't played with the Blackstone yet, but an outdoor griddle is a must have.

Just FYI, the little bottles won't fill in that configuration. Propane settles, so you need to flip the whole thing upside down so the propane runs into the little bottle (and you have to vent it as well, use a tire needle remover to loosen the vent).

I put a 20lb bottle up on my picnic table and thread the 1lb bottle so it hangs over the side. Open the valve on the 20 lb, and loosen the vent valve on the 1lb. It doesn't take long to fill.

I've found several 1lb bottles where the vent was toast or rusted, I just toss those, not worth the effort to try to fix or clean up the threads.

Another key thing that I learned from my paintball days is to put the empty cylinder in the freezer for awhile.
