I'm way behind, but we eat fresh stuff off the vine and out of the trees as much as possible.
Hmm, scratch that. I guess that I'm the one in the family doing that. The Balrog absolutely LOVES picking things and running it over to me and demanding that I down it immediately.
"Eat it."
"Ah, thank you honey, but I am not hungry."
"EAT it!"
"Really sweety, I'm full."
"But I WANT you to eat it!"
ad infinitum. Seriously.
The pipsqueak doesn't get tired of cramming fresh fruit down my throat. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, thimbleberries, figs, huckleberries (we have 2-3 bushes of the lowland red variety growing wild), plums, peaches (didn't get to harvest a single peach this year! After a bumper crop last year), blackberries, and right now the pears and apples are in.
I love pears when they're hard as a rock, but apples just don't work for me raw.
This tree hangs over my shoulders as I am working on the sawmill.
I'm interested in knowing what kinds of things my 2A WaGuns brethren and sistren harvest and eat fresh through the year. Especially the wild ones... I've never gotten into picking wild mushrooms, but I'd like to. Not sure I want to risk a trip into Neverneverland though.
