Would anybody like a seperate thread for low carb/keto recipes, or just incorporate into the other threads?

My wife and I are strongly considering keto. Please set up a thread. We know absolutely nothing and don't know where to start. Thank you!

We can just move ahead with this thread here. I got up to 60 pounds, but back slid a little bit lately.

Yesterday I made a meal with Shirataki noodles... Awesome pasta replacement. They look a little scary in the package, but much better than I thought. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/sh ... t-they-are

Wait.. So are you starting a new thread or just going to use this one. If using this one, I'd recommend killing the poll and updating your OP to explain WTF this thread is about.

How do I kill the poll Mr. Scotsman? If your magic powers can kill it, and turn it into a regular thread that would be great. BTW I'm going to give yo a noogie 1/1/2019.

If you use these make sure you use a pair of scissors to cut them up into smaller pieces.

I started keto on 2-23-19 and I am down over 10lbs. It's easy to do and you get to eat all the meat and bacon you want. I wish i would've started this a long time ago.

Bringing this upto the top.
The wife and I are looking to get rid of about 50lbs somewhere.
We have been exploring all the keto food items. Sounds like a good deal.
Im working on getting rid of some of the food in the pantry and then its time to start. We have already got rid of the sugar in our diets, now its time to start removing the carb intake from beans and noodles, etc.
Ive got a another week or so of beans, soups and noodle dishes to use up and then we start.
Im going to miss my potatoes the most. Well, and the beans too.
I already cook pretty low carb, but my wife is going to have to learn a new way of cooking. Ill burn up some meat and then she will take care of the sides, most times making a noodle dish, some potatoes and then a dish of corn. She is a carb cooking machine! Ive already got her off the sugar/syrup in her coffee and not more sodas and juices.
Giving up honey is going to be a tough one also.

Good: Diet Mtn Dew Eggs Cheese Meat, chicken, etc. Salads Sara Lee 45 bread (9 gr per slice) Green beans, cauliflower, carrots, lettuce, celery, tomatoes. Most fresh fruits. Bad: ANYTHING FRIED - just don't go there Corn Anything white or made with anything white. Chocolate, candy, blah, blah, blah... Regular pop Fruit juice You can have potato chips but only 1oz = 19gr Look at the labels: If it has 'sugar added', then no-no. Look for TOTAL CARB - should total around 60 for your entire meal. i.e. Coffee w/powered creamer & Equal = about 3gr Eggs = 0~1 Bacon = 1~2 Two pieces of Sara Lee bread = 19 Total approx. 25 Another trick is eat very slowly. Eat THREE meals per day. Drink water Get one of those Eat This and Not That books.

I've gone from 205 to 179 in six months. Went from insulin three times a day to two pills a day. Dr. is looking into knocking that down as well.

Giving up honey is going to be a tough one also. Eating carbs makes you crave carbs...as you eliminate them, over tie, the cravings will dissipate... As far as honey, we use Agave Nectar now in her coffee (I drink mine Black...)... Agave Nectar has a lower glycemic index....that matters in some plans, but not others, so check.... Start small, switch from potatoes, to sweet potatoes, etc., ... As far as noodles, experiment...some like Zoodles (Zucchini Noodles), some prefer brown rice, or cauliflower rice, and some use Asian Rice Noodles ; and Trader Joe's has a very popular Cauliflower Gnocchi.... Good Luck
