Cheeseburger Pie
Serves 6 – 8

1 lb Ground Beef
1 ½ cup chopped onions
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
Other spices as wanted
1 ½ cup milk
¾ cup Bisquick
3 eggs
1 cup shredded cheese
Sliced tomatoes (if wanted)

400 deg. Oven, middle rack
10 x 1 ½ pie plate or equivalent volume casserole dish (I use a 10 x 8 x 3 casserole)

Lightly grease dish
Brown beef and onions & drain thoroughly
Stir in salt & pepper and other spices to taste
Spread in dish
Beat milk, eggs & Bisquick until smooth, 1 min. by hand or 15 – 20 sec. with blender
Pour Bisquick mixture into beef – filled dish
Bake 25 min
Top with tomatoes, if wanted
Sprinkle with cheese
Bake until knife inserted into center comes out clean and top is dark; 5 to 8 min.
Cool 5 min. before serving

Mmmmm Mmmmmm!

Pretty much, though, a thin meatloaf on a bed of cheese.

Now I am thinking about adding cheese to my next meatloaf!

Not quite like meatloaf, the Bisquick adds a nice fluffy bread like bit between the beef & cheese.

All right, Jay. That sounded just comfort-foody and white-trashy enough to be interesting, so I gave it a go today.

I made a double batch and used a roughly 9" x 13" pan.

Here's the meat and onion mixture in the pan:

After cooking for 25 minutes with the Bisquik mixture poured over it:

And after cooking maybe 15 more minutes with the cheese on top:

And here's the final product served in a bowl:

Yes, I enjoyed it and I'll enjoy it for a few lunches this upcoming week. No, I don't think we're gonna catch WanderingWalrus making this anytime soon.

It appears that I cooked mine less than Isildur did, but if I had to do it again I think I'd cook it longer during the first stage, then apply the cheese, then cook it again just long enough to melt and slightly brown the cheese. As I did it, the cheese became a sort of tasty leather on top. Not bad, but not particularly cheesy.

One trick I've learned is when you serve it, flip it over and put more cheese on it. :thumbsup2:
I've tried cooking it with a layer of cheese on the bottom, but that turned into rocks.
