I see you made a little shelf. I try to make access to the bait as easy as possible. Not that mice could not get up there if they tried. But I put my bait directly on the ground and mount my sensor directly above pointing down at the bait pile. |

Did you make that from scratch? That’s a lot of work. Nice job. |

January 5 was the last time I shot any pest in the yard. Happened to be a mouse. So I’ve been moving the sensors around to my specific spots. Leave them for a week or so. Then move them to the next spot. Well finally last night at 10:45pm the alarm went off. Now I have had a few shrews set off the alarm. It is easy to tell the difference between a shrew and a mouse. And the shrews get a pass. Last night it was a mouse. In the photo you can see the sensor on the left and there is actually another sensor about 16 inches above that bait pile. All this is sitting on a 45 year old retaining wall made of rail road ties. The pressure treated 2x6 gives them a little security. They don’t like to be out in the open. So they think they are safe hiding by that. As for me, I’m 22 yards up hill in my living room. Actually I was in bed sleeping but I shoot out the living room window. I’m sure I won’t have as many of these little pest this year due to the fact I’m getting an early start on them. That bird feeder type structure is where my bait pile is. This is the view from my shooting position. |

These two crows have been eating the cherries out of my cherry tree. They really gave me the run around yesterday. Multiple misses. But I re zeroed my gun today when I got home. So done and done Those of you who have been following this thread may notice this is a different gun. This is the Zabroia Kozak FC 550 .22 cal. This one is a lot more powerful than my other one. Better for bigger pest and longer range. |

Looked what stoped by for supper. So still not much action around my house. If you don’t already know my routine I’m believe I’ve explained it somewhere back in this thread. This week I’ll be watching over my back yard bait pile. I set it up last night. The sensors went off twice sometime around midnight. I did not see anything and was too tired to stay up and wait. Tonight I happened to add some old crusty Sugar Smacks cereal out with the normal bird seed. At 20:15 the alarm goes off. It’s still light out so I grab the Zbroia. It’s my daytime gun. Looking through the scope I see a rat run by The last rat I seen in my yard was in April. So I anxiously wait. Will it come back out before it gets dark? Will I get to shoot it with my newest air rifle ????? Yup Now , the bigger question. Is there another? Most of the time the come in pairs ( in my experience) |
