Only 6 rounds? Gun jam? Was she being charged, cornered? Silenced so it wouldn't hurt his ears? Heart beating action like this needs more details, Chuck. Good shootin' by the Mrs.! :thumbsup2:

She IS law enforcement around that household, much like the rest of us. You don't have that problem situation at your place.

We have had signs of rats at work. So last Friday I put out some bread crumbs to try to narrow down their route. Saturday I went and picked up four rat traps. Placed them around the shop baited with peanut butter and bread crumbs. Fast forward to yesterday. The rat won’t touch the traps or anything on them. But will take the bread crumbs next to the trap.
So, yesterday I saved a taco bell wrapper. It had the usual stuff that falls out of your taco on it. Set it out and set up a shooting hide. Left work at 4:30 pm came back at 7:00 pm. With my pellet gun. Annnd there was a rat sitting there waiting for me.

Took it out . Then put out some wet cat food for bait. Sat around until about 8:30 pm. Nothing else.
So I’m back at it tonight. It’s not a huge infestation. Just don’t want it to get out of control.

Oh and I’ve also done a little research in identifying these things. This one is a Roof Rat. Also known as a Black Rat. Notable features are big ears and the tail is longer than the body. This one is a small female. So I’m guessing there should be a male near by.

I pity the fools! Well, not really. I was thinking about baiting my station now that the weather is supposed to change and the vermin will be trying to freeload in my shed.

Well with resent talk of peoples pest problems. I thought I’d check in and up date my thread.
My routine is. I have 5 to 7 locations around my yard. I’ll hunt over one spot for a week to two weeks depending on activity.
Distances can be from 4 to 32 yards. I can see all the locations from inside my house. So I set up
A bait pile and motion sensor . This is almost a nightly routine. I started this back in May of 2019. I now feel I am successfully managing the rodent population.
My tools of the trade.
Top is a Winchester Mdl 425. Shooting a 22 Cal pellet at approximately 400 FPS This is for close in shots 4 to 10 yards.
Middle: Benjamin Marauder (pistol) 22 cal approximately 600 FPS. This is set up with Night Vision and an IR light.
It is for shots 10 to 32 yards . Mostly at night.
Bottom is a Zbroia Kozac FC550. Shooting a 22 cal pellet at approximately 980 FPS. I use this for what ever the above cannot do.

Some pest I’ve gotten.
October 9 2020. 14 yard
Image
November 2 . 32 yards This is the longest shot taken at a mouse with my Benjamin Marauder. And it was at night.
It’s head blew up.
Image
.Dec 3. This was in my basement. 4 yard. I hunted this guy for almost a week. It would just come out grab some bait. And not come back for a day or two
Image
.Dec 24. Probably 17 yards .The starlings don’t come around too often.
And they often land in trees that are just not a safe direction for me to shoot.
Image
Got this rat last Wednesday. 22 yards. There is a second one that I have shot at and missed two or three times each on a different night. But rats are super smart. It will no longer go to my bait pile. I seen it this morning at 4am. Could not get a shot.
Image
Lastly I got this mouse this morning at 1:15am. 4 yard in my basement.

The action is picking up. But I don’t mind. I get to shoot regularly. I get to hunt. And I’m taking out pest and invasive species.
Good time :thumbsup2:
