Well, in search of something else to keep me busy through the winter, I am attending a trapping class tomorrow to be licensed to trap in Washington. I have grown to love Ice Fishing but its a weekend here and there due to traveling for it. Thinking I can trap much more locally. Anyone here trap? Pros, cons, advice? Just any overall knowledge and place to dump thoughts on the subject.

I’m curious, did you finish the class and try any trapping? A buddy and I do a little trapping, but I’m not sure how relevant any of my experience would be as we primarily do nuisance animal removal and not sport trapping.

I didn't make the class. I plan on taking it as soon as possible though.

I guess what I meant about relevant experience is abiding by Washington’s regular trapping regulations and such. Those beaver suitcase traps are pricey compared to foot holds and conibears. Did you end up sticking with it? I have always wanted to try it. I tan hides and collect bones and skulls and what not.

I am still very much interested. Not easy for me to make the class, however. Only 2 a year, and at Lacey Cabelas.

Wsta has a few classes over east. Anything you want to ask I'm listening been a wco here for 3 years and fur trapping for six now. I built all my own traps and I target beaver bobcat otter and muskrat mostly
