Enjoying an afternoon with my grandson waiting for a deer to walk by.
The season opened up this past Saturday and runs three weeks. So far my son shot a buck, a friend shot a spike buck and I shot a doe.

Looks like that deer was just waiting for Mason to give a belly rub!

Congrats, it sounds like you are having fruitful hunting . . . as usual!

It is going good. We could of shot a good size doe just a little bit ago but is was almost dark and the drag would of been bitch.
We are seeing deer everyday.
We have been seeing wild turkeys as well.
Probably Sunday we will be setting leg traps for mink, muskrats & raccoons. Then we have some 330 conibear traps for beaver. We,ll se how that goes.
Mason is having a great time out here hunting with us.

The season has been open gor two weeks and runs for one more week. We have been seeing deer every day. Either they were in thick cover, on posted property or to far away for a good shot.
Today we got up on a bedded young deer from this past spring.
Then we seen a nice doe with her young ones but they were to vlose to a residence to dhoos the big doe. An hour later went to another area and seen another large doe with her two young ones,
Never presented a good shot.

On the way back to my brothers place we seen two big does out in a uncut hay field on posted property.

Tomorrow is another day. Mason did get to shoot a grouse a couple of days ago.

There are a bunch of old cemeterys here. This marker is in a cemetery way out on some State Forest Land. He was born in 1777.

Then here is a picture on myself, my brother and three friends. We just got done pushing the wood lot behind us. We seen a few deer on this push but no shots taken.

We flew back here on Tuesday and Thursday they got thier first big snow storm just over three feet of light fluffy snow.
Snow that deep you would need a pair of snow shoes to continue hunting.

So Patrick, you mentioned four deer that your party shot, including one by Mason. thumbsup

Was that the total? Did you get anything else besides the grouse?

We had a bet going on $10 for the first doe and $10 for the first buck. There were ten friend & family in on it.
My son shot the first buck and I shot the first doe we each recieve $100 from the bet.

My son also shot a doe, my brother shot a doe.
Three friends also shot some deer as well.
Bert shot a spike buck.and then a doe.
Troy shot a buck.
Daniel shot a doe.

I could of shot a bunch of deer but didn't waiting for Maso to connect.
We had plenty of deer that presented shots but he moved to fast, took to long to shoot, good shots for me but not for him.
Being his first time out deer hunting was fun for us.
Next year I want to take the kids to Disney World in Florida if things ecer straighten up.
I hunted every day and could of cleaned up on the deer if I did the shooting even with Mason by my side. But I wanted Mason to take a shot.
