to see if MadPick finds this post in the recesses of the forum. Every time I meet him he appears to have read every single post on the board.

On topic, do hunters follow the GMUs with the greatest number of harvested elk reported last year? Or do they tend to just stay in favorite spots?

Similarly, has anyone ever examined the harvested elk density by GMU and headed not to the highest harvest GMU but the second highest?

Elk density where we've been has been very low and we've been wondering about scouting out a shift.

Yes madpick reads every damn post. Sometimes he deletes the particularly bitchy ones. I know this to be true

I'm calling bullshit on this one - I have never seen Madpick self delete one of his bitchy posts.

At first I was going to say back on topic, but this is actually a swell interpretation of hunting elk… Bunch of assholes sitting around circle jerking, and no sign of any elk.

Accuracy 100

Yeah, gotta hand that one to you. Art imitates life on this one!

My dad has hunted the same two areas in WA since the 60s. Other than draw special permits he never changes. Hasn't been as lucky lately but he's also in his 80s so I think next season (2019) we are going out of state.

I tag along but sometimes will go my own way with some friends in another area. We all communicate and hunt kinda like socialists. If a few get tagged and a few don't the wealth is shared. But we hunt for meat not for horns.

We're the same way--everyone shares. However, everyone has come home empty-handed for the last three years. Drought, earlier/longer winter, fires, all have thinned the herd.

I don't need to go anywhere, the bloody things magrate through my property each year. As do the Deer, Bear, and those fooking 'yotes. They're the only ones I shoot on sight when I can.
