Ooooh, I love where this is going, Dana. When do you expect to post the PIF thread?

It is a mat black aka Armor Black. The phone + lighting in that booth always makes the item appear a bit different than it is in reality. They are definitely black.

I might post WTT for Personal Protection Malinois and see where that goes. Most likely it won't be until mid to late October before that happens. There are elk waiting for me to show and drop in my lap. Along with hunting deer and bear to be done. The sooner the elk gets killed, the sooner I can get back to this project.

Thank you!

One man's wood is a another man's wood. Or at least that's what I'm told about mixing Keystones and Ribeyes.

About those black stocks....I refinished them again. After the fifth day of curing I handled them and didn’t like how it felt. So I changed up the prep and coated them again.

That was on Monday. Just about two days and they will be ready. Then the final assembly can occur. The shell latch plates have been restaked.

That is one of my least favorite operations. Make it pretty and then swing a hammer at it. insert eye roll.

Onto the next one.

This one...somebody decided to mount the swivel screw in the wrong place so I went to repair it

Then I took the forend off and inspected it. Nice big crack inside. I’m not spending any time on that piece and set out to find an authentic corncob wood forend. They stopped making them a while back and I’m not paying $60 for a nice oiled walnut piece. So this is going to get poly furniture.

Here it is a few minutes before going into the oven.

This Magnum is the first gun to feature Black Hammer Arms Dark Grey.

Lastly, another weary traveler arrived today.

That Corncob crack can be fixed pretty easily, it's not much effort.

How can you say that without knowing any details about it?

If you couldn't see it from the outside it can't be that bad

I’m not putting my name on gluing this back together.

Glue and pin/brad. Will hold.

Perhaps. However, I'm not putting my name on a cracked/repaired forend of that nature. Maybe if it was at the rear but, this is at the front. You'd feel horrible if your nut busted your wood in the midst of trying to pop your wad.

I get what you are saying but to me it looks like it has been cracked for awhile - but no idea how many times it was shot.

I say give the repair a shot. Look where the dynamic and static forces are, make the call. Modern glues and proper stainless pins are strong.

I'll buy that one if you give me a special price.
