About those black stocks....I refinished them again. After the fifth day of curing I handled them and didn’t like how it felt. So I changed up the prep and coated them again.   That was on Monday. Just about two days and they will be ready. Then the final assembly can occur. The shell latch plates have been restaked.  That is one of my least favorite operations. Make it pretty and then swing a hammer at it. insert eye roll. Onto the next one. This one...somebody decided to mount the swivel screw in the wrong place so I went to repair it   Then I took the forend off and inspected it. Nice big crack inside. I’m not spending any time on that piece and set out to find an authentic corncob wood forend. They stopped making them a while back and I’m not paying $60 for a nice oiled walnut piece. So this is going to get poly furniture. Here it is a few minutes before going into the oven.  This Magnum is the first gun to feature Black Hammer Arms Dark Grey. I get what you are saying but to me it looks like it has been cracked for awhile - but no idea how many times it was shot. I say give the repair a shot. Look where the dynamic and static forces are, make the call. Modern glues and proper stainless pins are strong. I'll buy that one if you give me a special price.
