OCP on a MGI upper, rail, and modular Hyrda lower. Magpul Flat Dark Earth fades to OCP on this Palmetto State Armory PX-10. |

usrifle wrote: What is "OCP" exactly? I am kinda liking it. Operation Camouflage Pattern It's similar to Multicam, without the brand name and vertical aspects of the pattern. When you see our military personnel off base near me, they use have a uniform in that pattern. https://www.army.mil/e2/c/downloads/396739.pdf You may recall that a couple years ago I did it for myself on one of those 30 caliber clip ghost gunz. https://waguns.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=72017&hilit=i+made+ocp+with+duracoat |

Army's bootleg Multicam because Crye wanted too much for the brand name. At least the British MTP uses a brushstroke pattern! Sent from my Y538 using Tapatalk |

Sent from my Y538 using Tapatalk The dollar amount Crye wanted was peanuts compared to the amount we spent on that clusterfugg known as UCP. The kick in the nuts is that the Army tested OCP (aka Scorpion, back then) alongside UCP......and picked UCP because they really believed (flawed) computer modeling showing that one pixelated camoflage pattern would be ideal for all conditions. The Army was also very jealous of the Marines and their MARPAT (2 different color schemes) uniforms, and thought that they would be the darlings of the DoD by being the first service to only need to field 1 camoflage uniform for all expected field environments. They were (of course) wrong, and started buying Multicam for Afghanistan deployments when it was found that Crye could produce the uniforms in a relatively short time span. OCP is a very effective pattern for temperate wooded and semiarid environments....but we shall see what happens in the future when the brainiacs get together in the Pentagon in the future to think up something new for us to wear. Those coatings look great, Dreadi. I'm considering a .450 Bushmaster build and just might need some of your handiwork incthe near future. |
