You're Not Marching For My Life

Sat Mar 24, 2018 2:21 pm

Yesterday I had a good discussion about guns, gun control, rights, responsibilities, and varying view points with one person that asked me quite a few questions and started out with, "I don't know the all terms and it requires a lot of research to know what everyone is talking about." That was refreshing. We listened to what each other had to say and my take away is that this person has more factual information to work with and also understands my opinions on the matter. Rarely do I ever get questioned without the person having an alternative objective.

In summary of one segment of our conversation, I had this to say, "It's my responsibility to choose and do what's best for me and my family. No one else has the right to do so."

Today some people marched for "our lives". To them I say, "You're full of it." You're not marching for my life. You're marching against my life. There were some people who actually marched for my life, and their life was taken away. Since then, we've been left with a hole in the leadership that we still need.

When you look back on today, remember, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. marched for my life. Malcolm X marched for my life. The Black Panther Party for Self Defense marched and demonstrated for my life. What did they and many of them get while they were active? Federal investigations, policy brutality, incarceration, murdered, and more gun control laws passed to limit their freedoms. Do you know why California does not allow for openly carrying of firearms? Ronald Reagan couldn't have The Black Panthers out there demonstrating on the capitol building or walking their neighborhoods any more and so you got the Mulford Act of 1967.

Many people were killed while fulfilling their commitment to have my rights codified and society's views changed. If you're out there marching for "our lives", don't include mine.

Home RUN Dana.

Great job.

We as gun owners MUST go on the offense on this. I shared an open letter to pass around. Putting it here too.

---

An OPEN LETTER to Military members and veterans regarding the 2nd Amendment:
Think back to that day at Basic Training, Boot Camp, OCS, or OBC when you were in a large group, you stood at attention before a Commander, raised your Right Hand, and Pledged an OATH to lay down your life in defense of this great nation and the Constitution of the United States from enemies foreign and domestic.

The Bill of Rights is incorporated and part of our great Constitution and our nation cannot survive without it. Around the world we see atrocities of people imprisoned, enslaved, or murdered for speech or religion, seized and imprisoned without due process in lawlessness or pseudo "lawful" kangaroo courts, and unable to defend themselves because they cannot own guns. That is the outlook for a nation without an intact Bill of Rights.

It’s not a “Bill of Privileges” subject to arbitrary approval or denial. It’s a Bill of Rights that has been slowly eroded over the decades by “activists.” These activists who march to destroy your rights are free to do so, as guaranteed under the 1st Amendment. But make no mistake, they are a threat to your rights and mine. Maybe you don't care about this particular Right - but I guarantee it's important and sooner or later they will come for a Right you do care for.

Do NOT join them. Fight them. You pledged an OATH to DEFEND the Constitution. These naive or evil people marching and protesting against the 2nd Amendment fail to understand the gravity of their actions, they don’t understand history of disarmament and genocide, they don’t understand the important function of civilian gun ownership tied to liberty and defense, and frankly they are a domestic enemy, attempting to chop down the mighty tree known as the Constitution one ax swing at a time.

The gun-grabbers don’t understand guns or their usefulness in society. Every reasonable person is empathetic and upset about gun violence, but disarming Americans is a “cure” worse than the “disease.” It’s the wrong solution. And this is not just about one particular gun or class of guns, as claimed. The “villain” gun-of-the-week is a scapegoat and operates no differently than most other legal guns. Nor do they understand that far more lives are saved by gun ownership, so while all deaths are tragic, ownership is a net positive by a wide margin. And according to FBI statistics, significantly more assaults, violence, and deaths occur with non-gun weapons like hands, feet, clubs, knives, and non-gun items. And, let’s look at the hypocrisy. Most of these organizations marching to “save the children” are in favor of abortions, which equate to about 2500 infanticides per year. So this isn’t about saving lives. This is about controlling the people by disarming them.

Resist their emotional tactics and appeal to “reasonable” measures. Nothing they propose is “common sense” or “reasonable.” In fact, the founders who drafted our rights did so through careful reasoned debate after winning freedom from oppressive tyranny. They understood the importance of liberty, religion, due process, speech, and effective individual civilian gun ownership for the security and defense of said liberty and freedoms.

Stand with me against ANY gun control measures. This is NOT a call to violence. This is a call to use the democratic process to speak up, share this view, write, call, march, donate to pro-gun causes, and vote accordingly to honor your OATH to your nation.

Further, if you know ANY military members who are spreading gun control propaganda, they are a threat to national security and the Constitution. Report them to their Commanders and/or the Inspector General. They are 100% entitled to their views, but their views are also 100% inconsistent with their duties in the military and a threat to the Constitution.

Share widely.
US Army OIF veteran.

I think you nailed something.

There is no way someone's rights can be enhanced or forwarded by stepping on other's rights.

I have just enough social media accounts to distract me from actually working instead of typing away my time. Realizing that not everyone follows me on the gram or Facebook, I thought I’d share this experience from yesterday.

I was sitting at a bar when the woman next to me says, “Great! More guns!” I turned to her and said, “I’m a gun dealer. I might not be the person you want to have this conversation with.” We ended up having a very civil and educational discussion. The first part was me helping her understand the difference between semi-auto, full auto, and a revolver.

Well Done Dana! I am curious how did the "More Guns" comment come about? Was she saying it to you directly, or just in general conversation?

The bar had a few TV’s showing live news casts of what was happening at YouTube HQ. I was minding my own business typing up an email and she’s blurts out. “Great! More guns!”

She’s a SF native.
