I have been offering a NWFA Member training weekend, and would gladly do the same for WaGuns members if there's enough interest.

August

2 Northwest Firearms Forum Members Training

3-4 Northwest Firearms Forum Members Training

10-11 Run the Gun - Rifle

Learn to the run the gun, so the gun does not run you.

This 2 day class is made to instill the fundamentals of efficiency and accuracy into the use of your chosen firearm.

We work with you, your firearm and related equipment with manipulations and drills that are logical and proven to be effective and useful well past the range. No industry standard or watered down content that so often fails to relate to the street. We will cover all aspects of utilizing your firearm to improve overall performance and accuracy, while learning how to focus on your surroundings, not the platform. You will understand how the brain works in taking in the information and properly absorbing it so that productive execution of the training is maintained.

Every student has told us this is far from being a basic class...in our opinion, necessary skills that every shooter should be solid on. This course is applicable to everyone from the casual yet competent shooter to the advanced shooter. It will challenge and develop your skills as a shooter so you're solid with manipulations, engagement and awareness, yielding results through hands-on experience that you can build upon for your future training.

The One day class will thoroughly cover;

Safety brief & Medical plan
Different optics and accessories - Pistol or Rifle
Effective shooting stance
Proper weapon grip
Recoil control
Sight alignment
Sight picture using magnified and or electronic optics - Pistol or Rifle
Proper zero and confirmation of them. (Range dependent on distance)
Trigger control
Manipulation of your firearm platform
Reloads
Malfunctions of the Pistol or Rifle
and more…

Day two will cover;

Positional Shooting
Barricades and Obstacles
Moving
Shooting from distance
and more...

This is not a basic class. You need to be solid with safety, fundamentals and the operation of your chosen firearm. Choose the Foundation course first.

If you would like to shoot-

1 day class - 750 rounds

2 day class - 1250 Rounds

Class starts at 0900 and runs for 8-10 hrs per day

Muzzle Brakes : Due to the possible long term residual effects of their use, from not only the decibel level, but also from the concussion which can lead to possible damage of the inner ear containing an organ which produces nerve impulses in response to sound vibrations, we are no longer allowing them on the range.

If you remove your brake prior to arriving at our facility, I have standard flash hiders to use at no cost to you. Let me know ahead of time.

September

13-15 S.A.T. 3 Day

We take the fundamentals and apply them to an operational environment.

This is an intense 3 day class that takes you up a notch to weapon transitions, moving, positional platforms, shooting around obstacles at varied heights, angled target acquisitions, and working with partners and groups, using both pistol and rifle platforms.

Day 1 and 2 concentrate on transitions, both weapon and hand/shoulder, shooting around obstacles, moving, multi-position platforms, and distance engagements. The 3rd day will concentrate more on working in pairs and groups.

In this class, it is imperative that you not only know your chosen rifle and pistol, but you know how to run them efficiently. We will focus on street-useful training and drills that will require a higher standard of accuracy, handling and physical ability.

This course will not only improve your physical skills, but your mental learning skills as well. The student will have the opportunity to work the skills and drills many times in order to achieve a solid foundation. This class will push you to succeed and learn what you need through experiential learning.

We do not believe in advanced firearm/shooting skills, we simply believe there are skills not yet learned.

Prerequisite for this class is a one day RUN THE GUN for both Pistol and Rifle, or equivalent, as there is a higher expectation of ability.

If you would like to shoot, bring - 1,500 Rounds Rifle / 1,500 Rounds Pistol

Handgun with at least 5 magazines (8 if single stack) and magazine pouch.
Rifle with at least 10 30 round magazines and magazine pouch.

21-22 1st Annual PNW Black Rifle Meet and Training

This is the Pacific Northwest (PNW) Black Rifle Platform 1st Annual Meet.

The range will be open for free, with the meet and greet scheduled for the 21st. On that day there will be plenty of shooting, BBQ, raffles, and some friendly timed competition events.

No hook-up/primitive camping is offered on site, and is free. If you're not the camping type, check here Motels/Lodging .

Our goal is to put together an economical yet fun weekend with like-minded individuals that enjoy shooting the Black Rifle. If you plan to attend, we need to know in order to provide enough food for the BBQ. Either post here, or contact me directly at ssshields@gorge.net.

We have a few vendors donating stuff for the raffle, so some cool things will be given away. This should be a kickass weekend, and I look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions, again contact me directly.

The 1 day Black Rifle platform class will be held on Sunday 22nd, and is for you and related equipment that involve manipulations and drills that are specific to the Black Rifle platform. This class will challenge and develop the shooter with skills proven to be useful well past the range.

The training is even paced and builds upon the fundamental basics of efficiency in a safe productive environment that yields results through experience that you can build upon for your future training.
