Made some progress on Bams racecar. Still have all the mtor work and install left, but other than a little work on the front axle, its assembled. Then squaring and set up to put in it.
Me being me, I'm still going to replace every radius rod and heim end, but just want to get it together and then do that once I know its "ready to race" if need be.

Only took me a year after I poured the concrete cap, to fab a cap/spark arrestor to cover the flues. Mostly to keep pine needles and birds out since we never use the built in fireplaces.

Had to replace a shower valve today. Not just the cartridge but the whole valve

Pretty sure I was the last one to use it, maybe 3 years ago. Since then the output to the shower head corroded shut

Worst part was getting the old one out. Cut the bulk of it out with a sawzall then desoldered the three joints

Put a piece of flashing behind it to protect the wood while sweating the joints

Wow..........I've always had nightmares that I might need to replace the works like that. Damn fine work!

I did a 3fer today not counting normal manual labor.

1) (started last weekend so cheated a bit) Fixed a floor squeak on the second floor under the vinyl floor. I don't want to tear the floor up. I bored some micro holes in the floor, with long tubes blew some silicone lube in. A lot. Squeak gone, been seven days, blew some more in and sealed holes with matching caulk. Cannot see holes at all.

2) Other floor squeak under carpet this time, tore carpet up and could not fix with double threaded floor screws. FUKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pissing me off, turns out squeak is from terrible construction of a stub wall, not the floor itself. Total crap. I am not tearing the wall out! Long tube and lots of silicone goo and spray. Problem solved.

3)

3rd bay door quit working.............pretty sure it's not not supposed to look like that! Replaced the mechanism. Works like a champ now. Blew some more lube on the works. Smooth!!!

Pablo, I’m sensing a theme throughout your work ... lube.

Yea I was. Sucky job

I couldn’t get enough heat into it to melt the solder and free it. Cutting each joint just past the pipe then cleaning them up was the only way

Had to take 1/4” off the top pipe to get it closer to center and lined up with the supply pipes too. I’ve got the perfect little pipe cutter for this, but it’s back in Tacoma, so I had to cut what I could with the pipe cutter I have here then the rest with a hacksaw blade

The old valve was a terrible design. You can see how small the hole is going to the shower head. That was full of rust scale that wouldn’t blow out with 120 psi. The little supply connections are twisted from replacing the valve cartridge too

Made a simple belt sheath for the knife I forged from a horseshoe last weekend.

Need to get some brown Edge Coat from Tandy to finish it, though.
