no sand filter, it uses cartridges that you can remove and clean.

The concrete guys showed up this morning to set up the forms for the walkway to the pool an around the corner of the house

Image

We had them cut some of the degraded concrete

Image

Image

The walk way will have a free-form shape matching the pool

Today was concrete day, 7:30 the truck arrived

Image

Image

Image

We went with a stamped look that gave it the look of flag stone or slate, they also cut lines to assist the in eventual cracking....the guy told me there are three universal truths about concrete, 1 it will get hard, 2 it will crack and 3 no one is going to steal it

Image

Image

I'll get more pics tomorrow when it cures....then we finish the fence and re-install the gate

Casey, that looks nice! I'll admit I was a little skeptical about the concrete based on the earlier pics, but this looks good.

Concrete looks great. It appears you have a good concrete finishing crew. They didn't get it super wet to make the work easier. More water, more weaker, more shrinkage. They cut plenty of joints and the stamping looks uniform.
How did they cut the joints?

We have been keeping the concrete wet to prevent severe cracking, it was hot (100+) and windy which is not a good combination for concrete curing

I re-installed the gate and put up the rest of the "temp" fence

That's a lot of hand work cutting joints like that. It gives that rough, real stone texture as well, unlike saw cutting or grooving.
Keeping it wet is a real good thing in those conditions.

Update:

We are still waiting for my contractor buddy to return to Arizona and for the pool guys to schedule the final inspection....in the mean time we finished the fencing around the pool

Image

My wife wanted to make some of those directional pointer signs like they have in key west

Image

So I cut some scrap pieces of wood in random yet arrow type shapes and she painted them up, I then put in a couple of 4x4 posts with solar tiki flame lights on top

Image

The lights:
Image

The other side is for warning signs....one is Clothing Optional, the other says "Shark Sighted Today, Enter Water At Your Own Risk"

I also bought a mature Queen Palm and planted it along with a small Phoenix Robelini Palm (pygmy date palm) and a Mediterranean palm
