You would initially melt the hdpe in a pan, of the right size and shape. Once formed and cooled, you could heat it up a bit again, and bend it if you wanted the curved shape.

yeah... using a sledge hammer to pound on the edges of your $300 ceramic plates to make somewhat effective handgun cartridge resistant plates.... not so much.
