Hey there, I am a meat cutter by trade in Snohomish county. Just wanted to extend to anyone wanting to learn, a side by side break down, primal identification and cut to sub primals, then steak/roast identification and cutting instruction. We do have a grinder on site for burger and vacuum packaging. You will be responsible for providing the meat and pay for packaging material. I will provide a clean work space. I will be the only person permitted to use the saw and grinder for liability reasons. And ask that you practice common sense and caution and don't cut yourself. Although donation is definitely accepted and appreciated. I would rather trade skill set for what ever you got to barter. []

Welcome! I saw this on Facebook and thought it was a great offer. Just wish you were closer. I butcher my own animals, but I'm not really good at identifying different cuts from the quarters. If it looks like a roast or steak, it becomes a roast or a steak. Otherwise it gets ground or saved for grinding later. I hope you get folks taking you up on your offer. Chances like that don't come around often.

I don't hunt, but what if someone just wanted to come watch? I've butchered a couple of pigs, deer and smaller game, but never really knew what I was doing, just kind of going for it. I've also made a bunch of pork sausage. I'd be interested to watch & stay out of the way.

Welcome to WaGuns. Wow, nice introduction and helluva an offer. I was lucky to learn to hunt with a bunch of union meat cutters when I was a kid. I grew up knowing folks who butchered their own livestock and just thought everybody knew how to do it. This is a tremendous goodwill offer and I'd encourage anybody with the slightest desire and opportunity to take advantage of our new friend's kindness. Be generous in return .

Don't worry folks, you won't end up on the hooks if you take him up on his offer. I know Mikey personally so whatever little consolation that gives you, you can't go wrong.

I would be pretty interested. We have a gilt of our own and intend to breed her. She's a Duroc/Berkshire and her little ones will probably be the ones we harvest or bring them to adult size and breed those for that purpose. I know this is a hunting topic but honestly this is turning the same thing general and making butchering a duality.

I would find this very interesting as I'd like to expand my knowledge on US cuts of meat. I have 18 years experience on butchering in Australia, carcases are broken down a little differently into primal cuts there. I learned the old fashioned way where we would get the whole carcase into the shop in quarters not in cartons.
