I’m sure we’ve all seen things we know we can do, so we did it. Post up what you got! For me, I saw on here (?) snake skin front strap for a 1911. Got me a snake skin from eBay and did it. Took me about 10 minutes.

^ That looks fun.'

Can you explain a bit more? Did you buy an actual snake skin, and then glued it on?

I got the snakeskin from eBay, made the pattern I wanted out of masking tape. Stuck the tape to the skin cut it out then scraped off the scales. Held the skin where I wanted it, penciled around the skin to mark where to glue (used spray adhesive for now) let it dry then carefully placed the skin on the strap. Then just trimmed off the excess. Reinstalled the grips and cleaned it up a bit more.
ETA: yes it is an actual rattlesnake skin.

Nice guy.

I was going to do the kit too, but I got to thinking that matching grips might be pretty cool too. So I bought the whole skin for $40.00 Probably got enough for a couple 1911’s with grips.

As far as aesthetics goes that looks awesome, but have you shot a milled snake skin frame? One of mine is done up by Dave at south ridge arms and I LOVE it

I just got back from shooting it, and the difference was significantly better in grip!

Yes, I too find the grip modification highly appealing and eminently functional. Well worth the $ and effort.
