Does anyone know if this is a common project back in the day?
This is a 50BMG case. The squares on the graph paper are 1/4".

There were several like this in a box of reloading supplies that I bought... It looked like an old old box, probably been 30-40 years since something was done with it.

^The shape is that of a tall spittoon. I'm going to have to give a point to Rene for solving that one.

Dental dam pliars? It's the tool a dentist uses to fit the rubber thing around a single tooth before they start drilling on it.
Gives me the shivers just looking at it.

I did an image search... Doesn't look the same. Mine has two separate tips at the end of the head.
ETA : I just switched to a different search engine and found this:

I think you're onto something. Handle part looks suspiciously family-like.

*singing* I'm still searching for answers... Any more ideas?

I've been carrying these things around for several years and do not know what they were intended for. Something specific? Or made to bend and twist for special jobs? Why the square male drive? The FxF was attached to one when I picked them up at a flea market.

It's definitely a dental forceps of some sort. The logo is SSW, for the S.S. White Dental Company.

IIRC those are for the hold down nut on the old fashion distributors.
Square male drive was for an extension.

Ooh ooh! That rang a bell.
But why the male drive? Not grokking that.

Put that sleeve on the end. Then you can either use a 3/8 drive ratchet, or you can stick another one in the top, (at any 'clock position'), and use it as a handle.

How can I help you, and/or make you smile, today?

The problem with being on social media, is that you know too many people that you don't know.

Joy is not a feeling. It is a strength. Some people are stupid, that's all there is to it. (And sometimes that stupid person is me/you.) Sometimes you just have to let stupid people be stupid. Don't let stupid steal your joy.

Holding onto unforgiveness and resentment is like drinking poison and expecting that other person to die. Anger will eat you up.
