1987 Honda Accord. Combo switch - turn signal / headlights. $300 but out of stock or otherwise hard to locate.

Took it all apart. Clearly terrible solder job with much overheating and some melted bits, stray chunks of solder, lots of oxidation.

Got it all cleaned up, scraped, filed and sanded away all the oxidation and melted stuff. Mechanically still seems sound.

Removed old solder (braid and flux is magic). Scraped, filed and sanded down to fresh metal on wires and lugs then resoldered.

Seems everything works now even after being on for an hour.

Danged if I didn't put the steering wheel on akimbo - will fix that tomorrow.

It is very rewarding to repair something without buying replacement parts. :thumbsup2:

Guarantee, when you “fix” the steering wheel it will be akimbo the other direction :ROFLMAO:

Ferd 302 valve cover gaskets

At 34 years and 347k miles going this deep is a risky operation. All the plastic is brittle, wiring brittle…fortunately I’ve been using anti seize on it all these years so no snapped bolts

I had a '79 Accord.
The entire lighting system had the power running thru the stalk.
When the headlights were on, you could feel the warmth every time you used the turn signals.
I had to re-wire or re-solder the stalk several times in the 175k miles I had that car.

    SOLID. Nice gate and fence! Planned and executed. Nice work. +2

I was just gunna brag that after 40 years I can finally match drywall texture to the point no one knows a hole wast there. icon_eek

:agro:

Yeah - After 40 years and 7 homes I can nail it.

But damn nearly $20 for a can of the spray stuff and then one use and clear it, put can with paint supplies..... wait 7 or 8 months and the propellant is gone....

Sadder is I have a hopper sprayer and compressor - which is GREAT for a room or full wall.

So I slinked down the mountain and bought the smaller $13 can and job is done.

It all started because wife is painting (imagine THAT)...and not her fault but she came across a bastard patch (Starts with "Hey hon.............."). Wow I think I could have done better with a broad axe and six poplar leaves. Anyway can't tell now and the shit you don't notice or care about in a HOT housing market.

Pics of patch - original protruded oddly and texture was terrible. Door handle wang!

Gate rolls and is about 98% complete. :thumbsup2:

Now to tear down the old gates and grade/new gravel in the newly enclosed area so it's useable
