Huge difference! That really opens up the space. Nice work.
Thanks! It truly makes the house feel much larger and gives it a LOT more pizazz. I don't know or understand why the builders did it as they did, but it was terrible and now it's amazing, just in the design. The hardwoods punch it up many levels.

good job ryan, shouldn't be too hard to get stuff up stairs now
Or down! I'm leaving! lol.
Seriously, that absurd and pointless 90 degree turn made for some really challenging (and prohibitive) furniture moving.

so I've got this outside elec box that took a crap...
checked it with a voltage testing pen, nothing. Ok shut of power tested again nothing. changed out the receptacle flipped the power back on......NOTHING. what the heck. ok repeated all steps and changed out the new receptacle again....again nothing .............so I pondered for 10 min and it kinda hit me.
ive got a GFI in front bathroom that cuts off power to the master bath when its tripped. sure enough front bathroom gfi was tripped, reset it and my power actually comes on outside....
cant fig out how the hell this house was wired...my next mystery

Made a lightning run to Montana to pick up our Cincinnati 205-12 milling machine. Spent the day today arranging for it in the shop, but have been dancing around the method of lifting it off the flatbed trailer. We picked it in Montana with a crane and set it on the deck of the trailer without a pallet, but my crane's engine seized awhile back so it's either with the 7k forklift (have to drag nearer the edge) or the backhoe/loader. Neither one is ideal for this. The machine is about 4600 pounds with the universal and vertical head, and I dislike tip-loading the forklift. The JCB backhoe is a lumbering beast that gave meaning to the old trucking song "Give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around"
I wouldn't hesitate to gently drag it nearer the edge of the trailer except the coolant pump is awfully delicate and mounted flush with the base. Any wibble wobble in the wrong direction and the 4600 pound machine will snap that pump's casting.

Forklift on one side, loader on the other, beam in between. Lift it up enough to drive the trailer out. Lower onto some dunnage so you can pick it up with the forklift
Just thinking out loud. If my boom truck wasn't boxed into my back yard I'd come down and pick it up

In the new house garage? That's a good idea, but no way can I get the flatbed into the house garage, and just trusses above the shop's garage.
But thanks for the reminder... I should look over the specs and know that number. I was recently reminded that I over-built the new house. Fairly confident that the beam in there could handle the mill.

Do you have a large beam? or even a log?

That could work! Thanks for the idea. I have a couple of 3/8" wall square tube/pipe/beam that I bet would handle that fine.
Mr Massivedesign probably won't mind a little bit of curvature to the conference table spine.
