Damn that's cool.

I added some under seat front quazi molle racks. Flash light and fire extinguisher mounts............of course none of my Quick Fists are the right size. I'll rig some mounts.

Fire pit evolution :

1. build a firepit and incorporate some design features that I half assed on the last one - a solid bottom to make cleaning it easy, drains for water to escape and forced air plumbing for the leaf blower
2. change the plan and throw some gravel around it
3. wifes says we should build a roof over it so we can still enjoy it if its starts to rain

I used solid concrete block this time, the hollowcore ones I used last time fell apart from heat cycles. And I didnt want to cut the last 2 half blocks so I just poured concrete. Another chopped up pallet rack wire deck for "rebar"

Cut the posts to height, and started on the roof framing yesterday. Built the girder trusses on the ground and pushed them up assembled. The 4x10 hip rafters are cut a little long and wedged in place. Hoping to have the roof wrapped up on Monday. Building a hood and chimney is the next step

Made up a headlight harness for my truck.

Used to be... the juice had to make it's way through undersize wires, into the cab, through the headlight switch, then through the switch in the steering column, and then back, through undersize wires, out to the headlights.

Now the headlights are fed directly from the battery, through relays. On 10 and 12ga wires.

Used new headlight bulb sockets. Then broke off an old burned out headlight bulb, and soldered wires onto it, to make a socket that connects to the old wiring, so I didn't have to cut up the old wiring in any way.

Now that I have done this, I may end up rebuilding the entire thing again, using the experience to build an even stronger system. Starting with ceramic bulb sockets. So I can put brighter bulbs in.

Well, it wasn't today...it was yesterday and the day before. I got some free Doug Fir rounds off of Nextdoor and split it up.
I had a Pallet leftover from some Sod delivery and stacked some of it on there and threw a Tarp on it.
I needed another Pallet to put the rest on and visited the local Big Lot's to ask if I could have one of the one's out back.
They said sure, go ahead.
So I grabbed a 4 foot pallet and went home. I did notice there was a big pallet and some sheets of 4x8 exposure rated Wafer board too, but I let it go.
So I get home and start stacking Wood and think, "WTF?"
I go back to Big Lot's and ask about the wafer board and the big Pallet. They said "Take whatever you want".
I grab the 4x7 Pallet and 2 sheets of 1/2 inch Wafer board and head home.
I unstack a bunch of Wood from the 2 pallets and toss it aside. (Yeah, i Love stacking Wood twice).
I take the 4x7 pallet as a base, demo a couple 4x4 pallets and part of an old Treehouse I built 15 years ago for materials .
I got the Comp roofing, drip Metal, nails and Tar paper Free from Nextdoor and I built myself a little Woodshed.
Besides gas and sweat to retrieve all and build, it was Free....and my ass got some exercise too.
That tree in front of it? I planted it 23 years ago as a sapling.
Pretty damn wimpy in comparison to some other DIY jobs on here, but it was all basically Free.
Next project is that old fence.
