.030 over, on most older motors is just getting started, i hear model t's unfortunately wont go as far as later flatties though. I have a flathead v8 in the corner that wore out at .185 over, and people say i should magnaflux it. Heck my blown/injected '49 olds rocket is at .155 over.

Pistons are available up to 0.080 over. If my block wasn’t cracked, I could have probably cleaned the bores up at either 0.060 or 0.080 over.

I've heard of .120's but who knows if that is a good idea? Especially considering the rust that may/maynot be in the block.

I guess if it runs hot, just run it on e85?

The engine rebuild parts have arrived. About $800 worth. But the critical path parts are the pistons.

Needed the pistons so the machine shop can bore the cylinders to match. Then they can cut and install hardened valve seats, and finally deck the engine. Taking the block in Friday. The crank goes to another machine shop for grinding. Then the crank, block and connecting rods all go to the Babbitt guy.

Some more engine parts, for you Motorhead guys

There are two of each part, as my buddy is building up another engine next to mine. Here are the cam gear, lifters and piston rings

Image

These are valves (wrapped up), transmission spring, crank gear, rear cam bushing, oil dippers, freeze plugs, cam seals, head bolts, valve springs and exhaust manifold glands and rings

Image

Glands and rings seal the exhaust manifold to the block. They look like this when ready to install

Image

Finally, bands for the transmission. These are Kevlar, when you push on the brake, clutch or reverse pedal, these bands clamp down around one of the transmission drums. Like brake shoes, except inside-out.

The only thing I recognize there is the valve springs.

I cut one in half and used it in my Form 1 suppressor once. thumbsup
