I need the slide repaired on my 1911 and the cerakote renewed. Does anyone know of a good smith between Everett and Bellingham?

Try Tenex in Blaine.

Sir...while I am not too near your location, I do know my way around a 1911 pistol.

By slide repair, what do you mean? What is wrong with it?

If the repair can be done, contact dreadi--a member of this forum. You could say he's a one stop shop...and there are many pictures of his work with cerakote on this forum. Absolutely gorgeous.

The pistol is a Rock Island Arms 1911CS, compact 1911 pistol. The notch in the slide that engages the slide lock is worn and slightly "mashed" so that there is a small protruding burr. The entire pistol also shows a lot of holster wear and I would like the cerakote renewed. I've attached a photo of the entire pistol and a detail of the slide lock notch. I've also submitted a request for a quote on your website.

You might want to contact the manufacturer for that slide stop notch. There are a lot of old 1911`s out there without that kind of wear, slide might be a bit soft.

I'm inclined to agree with this. Maybe they'll replace the slide.

On a related note, Old Jim no longer hangs here with us, but he's a big fan of Rock Island and their lifetime warranty, and he gave some contact info:

Maybe there's a more conventional approach on their website, I didn't look . . . but there's his info if you need it.
