Hey there WAGUNS friends.

I'm looking into getting a smith and wesson model 29 6 inch barrel swapped back to the 4 inch barrel. The 4 inch barrel is the actual stock barrel.

This is a - 2 model, so the barrel is pinned and threaded.

Does anyone know a good gunsmith that can do this in the South King Co area? My alternative is to send it back to S&W which I'd like to avoid if possible.

Thanks

I already talked to Fred. He told me to send it to Smith & Wesson.

Interesting he would say that, must be a reason. Who swapped the barrels originally?

The original owner.
I don't own this firearm yet, I was planning on buying it, it's currently on Armslist. I'm rethinking my decision as it seems like this might not be the best idea.

Don't put your comments within the quotes please, it's really muddling things up.
My advice is forget about that revolver, find another one and save yourself some grief.

Yes, spend that money on a new revolver. Then you'll have at least one NYC reload.

I have a 29-2 in six inch. They are a ton of fun to shoot. No point in switching it back to 4 inch. Not as enjoyable. I imagine there was a good reason the previous owner swapped it. Buy it and leave it alone. I'm not sure but i don't think they are rare or extremely valuable in either configuration.

Surprised C.a.R. didn't want to touch it.

Cylinder gap gauges, padded vise, pin punches + hammer, new barrel. Maybe a heat gun to get things moving a little easier. It's not a difficult procedure. I've never done it but plenty of people have.

Thanks everyone, I've decided to pass on the deal.
