I have a friend who is thinking about getting an AR gold plated... just because. There was someone offering that service, but can't remember who it was. Would you send me your info so I can pass it on?

Wasn't it Williamson guns up in stanwood? Seemed to me he offered plating, but there was also some questions about his business practices. Caveat Emptor.

There was a fella in Woodinville, but I'm not finding his post. That was a couple years ago though, and my Waguns search capabilities are limited on Tapatalk.

I did what I thought was a pretty thorough search and couldn't find it either. It seems like it was a very new member that posted about it, small operation.

Swift Tool - not a gold plating, just TiN.

I believe I brought it up a couple years ago, but it was titanium nitride coating (TiNi). You can do low temp titanium nitride coating to aluminum or sensitive steel parts (when heat treating may be affected), but doing a lower is always tricky because of how intricate the inside is. I've been using a shop in Wisconsin for years but they do not have a FFL for the lower (but are ITAR compliant, so they can do everything else). Titaniumgun.com in Lakeside Ca. does low temp TiNi and has a FFL but I have not used them yet, so I can't attest to their quality.

You're right, he definitely can anodize the receivers and the hand guard gold but if you want to go full 70's pimp, there are a lot of steel parts on an AR that will still need to get coated or plated (bolt catch, muzzle device, barrel, forward assist, ect.), which is where TiNi could be an acceptable replacement for real gold.

I checked my old PMs lol... Item9plating was his user name. But has hasn't posted since at least May of 2017. For some reason I thought there was someone else too. TiN in gold would definitely be a better choice for something that will be used. Doesn't have the same luster as real gold though. For a shelf display piece.

There’s a plater in the area that is firearms friendly but, I can’t for the life of me remember the WAGUNS member’s avatar name that knows him.
