Back in the old days...there used to be "S&W certified armorers". These guys would not only know how to work on your S&W handgun but could also get parts from S&W for you. Do they still exist? If so, are there any up here in Fungus Corners? Thanks.

What do you need done?

Thanks for the replies so far. I don't "need anything done", I just need parts to DIY. Seems like S&W has cut off the supply chain for the M&P pistols. Used to be I could get them from Brownells, but now it's all "back ordered...indefinitely". I have tried calling S&W a couple of times over the last year for basic, "drop in" stuff for the M&P format pistols. The last call was absurd. I was told that for a replacement recoil assembly for a Shield I would have to send the pistol to S&W...?!?! So I'm hoping that "certified S&W armorer" can get parts for me. If necessary, I guess I could take the pistol to the armorer and pay to have the part installed...I guess....But we're talking about M&P pistols. Nothing about a slide stop lever assembly requires "fitting"...As for a recoil assembly...well, unbelievable.

Take a look at these three sources:

Brownell's--most parts available
Gun Parts Corporation--for hard to find parts. Some parts (even though listed) are simply not available.
Jack First--when you REALLY can't find it anywhere else.

Well, thanks but I have contacted Brownells, and Gun Parts Corp. and yup, even good old Jack First. I've been a DIY-er with various S&W autos since back in the '80s so you'd think (!) I'd have leaned by now...HA! Dealing with S&W has almost always been a real PITA. Occasionally it would get better then...the same old ridiculous dance. Sometimes the outside vendors could come to the rescue. Anyway, I SWEAR that this is the last one. So once I get the thing squared away, look a fabulous deal in the WTS section!
