I have been a gun owner since 1985 and have had a concealed carry permit since then as well. I moved back to Yakima from Monroe a little over a year ago. I have seen the shooting locations map here at the top of the page. What I would like to find is a place in the area to shoot some Tannerite. Anyone know of a safe place to shoot a few pounds. When I was a kid we used to shoot in Terrace Heights out by the landfill. Looks too built up now. Any ideas?

Sorry I can't help you with the Tannerite question . . . and all-too-common problem for most of us nowadays. :frust:

There is an outdoor public shooting range out in Wenas. I’ve only been there once so I can’t really tell you the exact location.
I’m sure if you ask some locals in your area they can point you in the right direction.
It is forest service land. So you must abide by their rules.

Here ya go.

As a Firewise official I can tell you that shooting Tannerite these days is a good way to get you in trouble real fast. Too many stupid people out there have made it bad for those that know how to shoot Tannerite and not catch everything on fire. You may find someone with a private range this time of year that has snow but it is no longer allowed on state or federal land.

If I wanted to shoot Tannerite I would chase down the Wapato Rod and Gun Club as they should still be around and save it for when the range is snow covered if you join and they then let you. If it was me I would call one of two local attorneys that should know and were involved with the range at one time Erick Rasmussen or his dad Glenn.
