Greetings from SW Washington. Just got our first handgun, a Sig P365XL. Am in the process of hunting down some 9mm ammo. Found some online and am waiting for the shipment. Wife and I chose it after renting and shooting at an indoor range in Camas. She had shot handguns before as a high schooler (four decades ago) and I had shot rifles when deer hunting in the Midwest in high school. I teach HS math (so I'm home due to the flu panic). My emergency preparation revolves around amateur radio and felt personal protection is getting more and more necessary.

Welcome to the addiction. I like your choice of handgun. The regular P365 is my choice for a carry gun. What’s your plan for training or practice?

Welcome.
Congrats on the online ammunition purchase. I wanted to extend a friendly reminder to you in that our elected overlords in Olympia tried to pass a ban on online ammunition purchases this last session. If you have some time and care to get involved in the fight to preserve 2A rights, you could write your representatives and tell them you do not want to have the restrictive firearm regulations like California does.

Welcome! Can't go wrong with the 365, lots of good reviews. Sounds like you both have previous experience with firearms, but it would probably be worth getting some formal training. There are some relatively inexpensive classes that help prepare you with laws and use tips for conceal carry and home defense. Cabelas often hosts one, and I think Sporting Systems has classes as well.
Do you have your General HAM license? I'm studying up to take mine this fall, looking to get on the HF. My friend in Gig Harbor (N7CPM) is going to help me set my base station up once I get my General. I have my Tech and occasionally mess around on UHF and VHF but excited to expand my range with HF.

Welcome to so many things in the USA.
Good choice on firearms. Mid size and has the flexibility for carry and range use. Good shooter. (Yes, I am biased the Sig 365 has become my primary choice these days).
In prepping you may consider buying a few extra mags, holster and mag carrier. Lots of YouTube on mag change and learning basics of grip, sight picture and trigger.
Of course you will need range practice (when they open up) or you can find a nice free area (depending on where you live).
Dry fire isn’t for beginners. It may sound like a good idea but if you really don’t know which end of the gun to point down - one just develop bad habits and that isn’t the best as it takes so much to unlearn.
Think perfect practice makes good practice. When it’s flawed... one only learns bad things that translates to months of understanding the flaw and then trying to correct it.
Look up Grip, Sight Picture and Trigger.

Hi everyone. New gun owner here as well. Sig P365 seems to be the CCW of choice. I just bought one myself for my birthday (which was yesterday). I was told that I could pick it up April 10 *fingers crossed*. Super excited and already have gun #2 and gun #3 picked out lol. Since we're all quarantined I'm planning on practicing my draw. I've also been loading and reloading my magazines trying to figure out the most efficient way. It hurts like heck. Anyway, glad to be a part of the fam!
