Hi everybody! I'm new here, looking for advice or direct link to the topic -
With current virus thing around all gun stores are closed(or expected to be closed for public)? I'm looking where I can buy a 22lr youth bolt action rifle(cz/henry/other) (i've got plenty of time to train my kid now)- if this is still possible. Any dealer in WA who can process this purchase/paperwork? Thanks! You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

Welcome, you might want to contact one of our members here, the wonderful, all powerful Dreadi of Black Hammer Arms. He may have access to sources to order certain guns for you, or suggestions on who to order from and he can take delivery and handle the transfers. If you don't hear from him or some of our other member dealers soon, send him a private message and he will do this best to take care of you, guaranteed. We also have a dedicated thread for newer shooters to post questions in. I'll look it up and post a link here in a bit.

I'd start with a 10/22 or CZ. I bought my youngest a Chipmunk .22 when he was about 10. Outgrew it in a year. It was a transition model, laminated stock, had a "Davey Cricket My First Rifle" case (they bought out Chipmunk)  Cute little gun, I shot it before, my brother shot a rabbit with one a few years ago when we were camping. _________________ NRA Endowment Member. Not sure where to buy one right now, but my daughter likes her Savage Rascal. Got it because it's simple, no striker to pull back. Just open the bolt and slip in a round.

So first, Welcome to WaGuns!
Next how big of a kid? Second, I second the Savage Rascal .22 over the one you have in mind. It does typically cost about $30-$50 more but you will appreciate it versus cocking the firing pin back every time. Plus your child will totally be able to transition to any bolt action. You get a better trigger, better working gun. I started my 4 year old on it and he was small for his age. So size and fit is extremely important. |

You could also get a youth stock or an adjustable stock for your 10/22. I've seen similar youth stocks here on WAGUNS for $30 or so. Personally I'm getting the Hunter X22 stock for mine. I can set it up for my boy (6yoa) and add the spacers when I want to shoot it without him.

I went this route and would recommend starting with Ruger Charger (10/22 pistol) and then upgrade to be modified to use brace. This can greatly give the flexibility of length of pull (LOP) (fit for your child).
Only issue I found is my son at 5 wasn’t strong enough to manipulate the 10/22 gun completely by himself. And to know my son... he wanted to do it and knew how but wasn’t able. I eventually moved him to a dedicated .22 AR with adjustable stock. I went S&W M&P 15-22 Easy LOP and easier to use. But he blows though Ammo like a machine gun. |

There is a fix to make it cock automatically, but the kids grew up and don't shoot .22 anymore, so I haven't messed with it. _________________ NRA Endowment Member.
