I am just down the road from you a bit. As for wapiti I have a honey hole that is good for people that are old enough to get into that age special draw just like I do for the disabled. Ducks out on the Res I would go down closer to Toppenish out close to the refuge. There used to be some public fishing access off of Highway 12 too. i can not guarantee you a shot at a elk at 1000 yards but I do have a couple place out to 500. Having a quad is a big help if you qualify for the disabled category and the local forest service are used to having to deal with me and I do not take crap from them.

Good to know I have neighbors on this forum! I have no big game honey holes in Washington, and sadly admit to not really giving it much of a chance. Partially because of the sheer competition and due to some physical issues, haven’t gotten into archery to increase my chances here. I am fortunate to have some friends and opportunities in Idaho, and have done most of my elk hunting there. I should clarify, it isn’t my aspiration necessarily to take a game animal at long range, but a product of a hunting situation encountered a couple seasons ago in Idaho on a bull hunt. The short of the story is, while hunting alone, I had repeated negative encounters with a group of hunters which resulted in my .30-06 not having the range to deal with. I did set up a 7mm WBY and fill my tag the following season under the same circumstances. As long as it’s an ethical shot with the right equipment, I’ll hunt whatever suitable range the situation dictates. Duck hunting is my newest hunting endeavor, having only a few seasons worth of experience, but I enjoy all the hunting and fishing I can do. I do have a quad as well, but not much experience with the forest service nor knowledge of qualification for disabled hunting.
